Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

stop hijacking the post golfwise in your quest to uproot the evils of air and water. This post is about the Buckland run! Cant you get over that we all had a top day and thats what its always about.
Since i need more than a few pointers, why dont you enrol me in your next "driving school" im 33, past adolescent but the boy at heart would love to be taught from the master.

Geez! Boring. The mainlanders will be able to laugh at us again. Why does this air/water thing get bought up all the time? We had a good day sunday, but still someone has to put this post down into the gutter. I thought that the "watercooled run" was to help people get over there "phobia" about a/c vws.
No, I wont be going out to Baskerville sunday. After 6 1/5 years of competing at all levels of motorsport, I am done for a while
We havent hijacked the golf scene. We always invite everyone we can to out runs, all get along on the days with our shared passion of our cars, whether tidy or not. Might take the pss out of each other during the day at times, but its all taken lightheartedly. There was only two a/c vws on the day and the owners are very friendly.
Shame that the water/air thing had to be brought up in public again.
The next club meeting is on the 16th June where any greivances should be aired, not Brackies (and all of ours) forum.
Can we let it rest, for once and for all???

I'm not a club person and I wasn't even aware that there was a separate southern club.

We understand the distance thing and thats a tough one, we are just starting to plan another trip, if you guys want a drive where we head north or north west, thats sounds great. Let us know and we will get a gtg organised.
Again I suggest Launceston. Maybe a run up the West Tamar. We supply restaurants in that area and I'm sure I could get us a great deal on lunch......

A run up that way would be good, do you know the local coppers Brackie?
**** hot, mate. Write the ticket first and then tell you what it's for.

Yeah, and this WILL be for the last time. Any future put downs in that area will be deleted with no recourse or apology. We are here to talk about watercooled VWs and we should all be tolerant enough of other models and marques to leave them be. This forum was created to get away from that sort of thing.

Thanks Brackie. An end at last! You can put me down for a Tamar cruise. And with an excellant result in Beaconsfield this morning it will be all the better!

By the way Brackie, the vw club down here is called the Volkswagen association of Tasmania. Has been running for years. I think that the northern club is the Volkswagen club of Northern Tas. Garry Eade of Smithton is an active member up there, & organises a few social events when he can. Greg Cash in Launceston. They dont drive w,coolers.
              Cheers mate

I am really sad to check back in to a thread about a cruise that I was interested in has gone way off-topic.

IMHO - I found this board and started using it because there was a real purpose behind it for watercoolers. I started cruising with guys from vortex first and then arrived here.

Since I moved from Sydney a year ago, I have not found there to be much interest in cruises until lately. I frequently go out with one or 2 others informally for a blat.

I was really unaware of this factionalism in the scene here, and it is sad to say that the find is regrettable. If there is bad blood, I did not see it spilt and have not any interest in seeing any more spilling. We all got to work together!

I have met loads of people that are into VW since I moved here, and personally I have had heaps of support, including from the VW Assc. considering I am not a member, although have entered their events with encouragement from the members.

Finally, I am a real supporter of this forum and hope that there is a real growth in it as it expands over the next months. - Thanks Brackie for going out on a limb to start it up!

                  Peace - Mick

Well said Mik. I try and encourage as many events and drives as possible. I dont care who or what comes on them, its about a few laughs and some fun after all thats the only reason i am the major club organiser in the south, its not a prison camp but a car club.

Expansion of the scene is mine and the clubs goals at all times, This crap does nothing to help any cause and i wonder what the underlying motivation is behind crapping on anything that we do or say.

The next drive will be disscussed at the next club meeting in June and will be advertised on this forum not long after.

I cant wait for September and the Baskerville day, thats to far off.
