    Keyboard Kowboy!

Well, this "Keyboard Kowboy" had to get the Loon and his family to Launceston airport and couldn't make it. What's this about another run before Baskerville? Can we Tassie Crew get a little less "Hobart centric" and meet somewhere in the middle? It would make it a bit easier in North Westerners like me. And as for plod....Get a Mk1 diesel! Breaking the speed limit isn't an option! (Although the Loon did admit to getting my little silver girl up to 120)

How about the northerners organise a central type run. Tried to organise a northern targa, Georgetown meet up but there wasn't any interest. Think I had the only watercooler there. Is there enough interest up there?

Dont mean to offend anyone with that last comment. Just want some feedback from you northerners. Its hard if we organise a trip & we cant any numbers of who is going to turn up until the day. Yesterday was a guessing game of who was going to attend until we met up at the assembly place. At one stage it looked like there was only going to be 3 of us, but then the enthusiastic ones turned up. As a golf nut I would be up for a northern run, work permitting.
Share the passion,I think the say!!

          No offence

No offence taken, Mate. Even thought Tassie's a small place many of us have commitments that make it difficult to attend gtgs. Something in the middle of the state would make things easier. In fact, Launceston area would be ideal. After this week I'll be freed up heaps.

yea im in the same bout as brakie. commitments make it hard to travel down to hobart for a gtg. and the petrol prices and getting any cheaper . it would be great to organise one a little a little further up north.

looks like u guys had a great time...

The reason this all seems "Hobart centric" and i make no apology for it , is the whole thing was a "Southern VW club" outing. This event has been advertised in the club magazines for around 4 months. The club has a small band of workers who organise these and other events, thats why we have so many gtg's and drives down here. We travelled as far north as Campelltown, and covered 300kms of the state. Thats fairly close to the centre of the state.
We understand the distance thing and thats a tough one, we are just starting to plan another trip, if you guys want a drive where we head north or north west, thats sounds great. Let us know and we will get a gtg organised.
A run up that way would be good, do you know the local coppers Brackie?
If you want more info on our drives, Baskerville or skid pan days why not join the car club. Its only $25 to join. We werent meaning to sound cryptic if it came across that way, we will try and sort that out next time.

Hey Delux i think we hit about 85 to 90 kmph, did you have the hand brake on going up hills and down those long straights? or was that 25 years of age.
I wouldnt use me as a braking guide in future matey, it worked out this time but as i said ive never driven that road before and was flying blind!!!!
That was the blind leading the blind for sure.

Once again man that was FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any of you street racers up to it.
You could come and put me in my place if you dare.

Sadly you point out the vw club has some air cooled cars, you are driving with the MG car club this weekend are you not? Im not sure that they were built by Audi or VW golfwise. You should come to the next "all VW "day at Baskerville Sir Golf Brabham and give us all the pointers we need to mix it with the big guns.
By the way we were simply street cruisers on the weekend no one mentioned racing.

You would need more than a few pointers me thinks.
And as you air boys have taken charge of the Golf scene now I've completely lost interest.

We had a ball (as we always do). We have a ball in our "archaic" aircoolers too. Yes, that is not for this forum but we are not the ones talking about them here. It's a "VOLKSWAGEN CLUB" not just an aircooled club, still if you came along you'd find that out for yourself.

If you wish to promote the Golf scene, as you say you do golfwise, then step up, organise something and we'll all come. Start a "watercooled" club, we'll come then too. It's easy to knock from the sidelines.
If you've lost interest maybe you need a change?

MG car club- you might need to chop off your roof to fit in there!! Some leaf springs and RWD would help too!!! (or buy a mini)
Not all of us are interested in racing.
I'll stick to the VWs (of all kinds) thanks.

As a matter of interest, the "aircooled forum" has a section for waterpumpers too. Perhaps they are a little more "liberal" in their attitudes towards other vehicles from the same manufacturer....
