The 2871R seems to be able to make 400 - 450hp on a 1.8 - 2.0l - our own TT with the same turbo on it made 230 wkw as well - that's a completely stock motor with 270,000 kms on it!

Now I think your VR6 needs a turbo to get a little more out of it!
Interesting thats a decent power output for such a high km car nice work! HEHE I'm still contemplating on either the turbo or the SC but I am leaning towards the SC at the moment Stage 2 from VF with a front mount

Would be curios to see how it goes down the quarter mile

Man, not sure on that - there are so many variables in Piston compression / strengths, rod's etc.

I know that the 5 valve is a brilliant design for getting air & fuel into the
1.8T's but of course, with direct injection, the valves only have to bring in air, so its a whole different engine design!

I agree, not that I have ever blown up a 1.8T motor, I'll stick with APR's recommendation & keep it below 400hp

            Motor rebuilds get expensive

Some nice results, how street driveable are the cars at these sort of power outputs? you would have the luxury of traction control though which I imagine makes the world of difference.
                76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
                76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car

I would also say that the cars have LSD's, Sean was telling me how much better it feels going around in one with it!

Matt there was a mk2 gti with a 2L bottom end hat made 68kw had a bigger cam and a 5 stud conversion not bad but was a wreck though.

yep, our 2.0T drives like stock, absolutely smooth as - you just learn not to stomp on it in first & second (seconds OK if you are moving).

If you are in Sydney - its at European Autotech this week - get Derek to take you for a spin. 400hp fwd cars can be easily used on a daily basis.

Pulling up is what you have to watch, so invest in your brakes as well - oh, and good tyres (thanks Pirelli for hitting my bank balance )

I've driven this car in peak hour when it had 203kw atw, apart from the extremely heavy clutch and touchy breaks (compared to mine) it was really nice to drive. Both of those things you would no doubt get used to.

I'm thinking 16vt in the mk1, so no drivability at all, but thats another story for another thread.
