Ditto on the above, fair to say it was more successful than I was expecting.

Happy to meet on whatever basis people wish for - happy to sneak in a weekend hills cruise in between for anyone keen as well.

Was great to see everyone there last night. 9 was actually a pretty good turnout for a weeknight SA meet!

So, I think we agreed to do a bimonthly Sunday morning cruise, and a bimonthly weeknight coffee meet, on alternate months. Sound reasonable?

Before I create the specific threads, I'll suggest these dates. Feel free to scream.

Next Cruise: Sunday, May 26, 10:00
Next Meet: Wednesday, June 26, 20:00

I'm good with those days/times, although probably like the 7.30 start for the weeknight (the mrs starts early.. so I start early.. I shouldn't be on second coffee and still not see the sun?)

I should hopefully have a little more to play with on the cruise.. and then hopefully new shoes by the next night meet.. if I can ever decide the right fitment for width and ET.

Can I make a suggestion that we have a SA VW events thread which we can all subscribe to (much like this one) and then keep the first post updated with the next 2 upcoming dates for drive and coffee dates/times.

That way nobody misses the new event post and you can either subscribe to the thread or bookmark it or whatever.

Just a suggestion as I know a few people complained about not seeing the events getting posted in this part of the forum.

Great idea. What I'll do is actually create a new dedicated thread that is locked and just contains the next events, and we'll leave this one for the ongoing discussion. That way everyone can keep an eye on the "Next SA Meet" thread for an at-a-glance indication, and jump in here to discuss locations, times, planning etc.

Bear in mind that if all I'm going to do with the thread is update the first post, then even if you're subscribed, you won't receive updates when that first post is edited. How about we meet at Taylor Blend, on the corner of Hallett Rd and Marble Tce, Stoneyfell, at 9:30am for coffee / 10am for the start?

We can confirm the route within the next week or so. Anyone want to make any suggestions? If not, I'll draw something up. Aiming for about 60-80km / ~2 hours including a stop or two I think.

Sounds ok to me.. happy to make a stop at any decent photo locations etc

Would also be good to get an idea on numbers a few days out - as has been noted larger groups don't tend to travel so well in one hit.

I've got a birthday lunch on this day so may have to bail early.

Can I suggest that the first stop on the route be somewhere near the freeway (say Otto's at Hahndorf) so anyone needing a shorter route are able to get back to town relatively quickly.

Looks like the SAHHC guys have organised their own cruise for the same day... starting 1/2hr earlier.

So we should be able to keep this one small(ish) and manageable hopefully.
