One of the first videos I've been able to pull from the Go Pros - in-car on the first run in the Lambo.

Maybe not quite as quick as the Lambo, but here is the video from the front mount of my car:

And one from inside, sadly I forgot to turn the radio off for this one:
(and had to go a little past the mark to get it over 200 )

And one from one of the fun runs at the end sans roof:

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Sounds like a great event, I think I'll be in next year. What are the classes that would include vag vehicles? Fwd, awd? Stock, modded?

There are 3 groups of competition classes - drivetrain, engine configuration and an overall 'performance based' class.

              For example:

The Polo was in FWD (which it won), 4 cylinder turbo, and performance class 3D (3 meaning highly modified, D being engine capacity with a multiplier for forced induction).

The Golf was in AWD, 4 cylinder turbo (which it won), and class TW1D (TW1 being the tuner class allowing the same modifications as privateer class 3, again which it won)

The Lambo was in RWD, V10+ (due to small numbers they joined V10 and V12 together) which it won, and class 1E (1 being stock standard).

If you're wanting to take home a trophy, a modified FWD VW would be your best bet as there wasn't much competition in the FWD class. AWD is impossible to win without 1000hp+ given the competition in recent years, and a tuned Golf R has won its class the last 2 years.

There was only 1 NA V6 entered this year and that car actually ran last by some way (it was a very cool British-style roadster) so a VR6, Bora 4 Motion or R32/36 would probably do pretty well in that class too.

Definitely - assuming you'd be making similar power to the Stage 3 R but without the advantage of AWD at the launch I'd reckon on somewhere in the 23-24 second range, which would put you a massive 2-3 seconds ahead of the Polo and would have been clear winner of FWD on the weekend.

To be honest I can't see bikes being allowed to enter - the runway isn't a safe enough place to allow riders of unknown ability to reach speeds approaching 300kph.

The surface is fairly bumpy and with strong alpine winds even the Gallardo squirmed about at 275kph, so I can't imagine what it'd be like on 2 wheels. It'd take only a small bump at the wrong time to send a rider down and at that speed you could guarantee that'd mean serious injuries or worse. Knowing that I can't see the event insurers allowing bikes to participate.

Not sure - will have to see what we need to enter so we can beat our 4 trophy haul from this year...
