  • NSW 2013 Shannons Insurance Snowy Mountains 1000

    Event : Hi-Tec Oils Snowy Mountains 1000

    What : 1000m Sprint on a runway

    When : Friday 8 November (workshops/Tuners) AND Saturday 9 November (privateers) 2013

Where : Snowy Mountains Airport, 1611 Kosciuszko Road, Cooma, NSW 2630

Cost : $175 per car vehicle including numbering kit

Sponsors : Shannons, Federal Tyres, Mickey Thompson, Racing ready, Adaptronic, McDonalds, High Roller Energy Drink, Power Plus Racing Fuel

    - Two days, 200 cars
    - Open to all cars
    - Hotmix covering the first 100m of the course.
    - Runway is 2.2km long with 1050m sealed braking area and 150m dirt run off, so there is plenty of braking distance.
    - Runway is being commercially swept on the Thursday/Friday mornings and Lunch breaks on Friday/Saturday before the event, from one end to the other and side to side by a highway sweeper, not a Gutter sweeper like last year, so it will be significantly better.
    - We have many high powered cars coming, from Drag cars, Touring cars through to Pro Class time attack cars
    - All mobile networks work there
    - Over 13 motels, plus pub/hotel accommodation, Camping/caravan parks and B&B's
    - Approx 1hr south of Canberra
    - all 4 major fuel companies in town and all stock 98 Octane
    - Two spectators area's, one literally right next to the start line and and last years as well
    - Entertainment for the children

Please email snowymountains1000@hotmail.com if you wish to enter the event and an entrant pack will be sent out to you on the 25/26 March with entries being taken from the 1st April

Will definitely be back this year - new car on the privateer day trying to make it 3 years in a row as fasted unmodified, and will be pushing to get my Golf R there on the tuner day to see if we can keep some EVOs honest.

Would be great to see some more VWs this year too.

You might have to battle a McLaren and a 458 now as well

I've emailed my details in and hope to be there again this year. Would love to have some other VW peeps there to talk (drink) with

Last year it was myself, BugRacer (Seb) and another guy (who I don't think is from here) who had is toy Polo as a "spare" car run by a mate while he drove his Lambo

Met a pile of good people, had a few laughs over dinner, although would love to actually make a decent weekend of it this time around with Friday night drinks and actually stay overnight on the Saturday after the presentation (unlike last year where this crazy bastard decided to make a run for Sydney AFTER the presentation... nothing like a 1am arrival home).

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Got both of your emails there Aaron

Funny thing, is that of the VAG, Audi's seem to be the least likely to enter

Thanks for that, really looking forward to the event this year after I have solved my TCS issue.

Oh, and I should have added earlier

I'll bring my S3 this year (probably) . I would have thought Seat would be the least likely to enter .

The problem I find is that there is not many real VW Racing enthuisiasts in this country . Everything from Drag racing to circuit racing , hillclimbs to time attack , there is less than 20 or so cars Australia wide that regularily compete

                    The other guy was me.

My mate drove the Polo as he'd entered his Civic but it didn't meet CAMS regulations in regards to suitable tow points, so the Polo was a last minute substitution.

Clearly I failed at following basic instructions. I missed the part that said "Entries open at midnight on the 1st April, 2013" and completed and sent in the entry the moment I received it I'm maybe a little excited to get back out again this year.

I suppose I will have to resend the entry form later tonight.
