I think 6 laps is too many. 4 or 5 is a good number.

Nat, if you're asking about BMW day, my guess is you'll get a minimum of 10 x 5 sessions for the whole day.
So there goes my set of tyres for the day Might as well keep both set of pads with me too. Got a new set to fit this weekend and will scrub the old ones just in case. I'll drive out there early to swap tyres in the morning. My current street tyres wouldn't be legal after 50laps I reckon.

Will take lots of fluid and food cos that's a lot of track time Wonder if its worth taking petrol, though I've only got a 5l can for the mower

Has anyone got any confirmation from BMW about their booking?

My new tyres, will be on Audi TT 17's.

Noice rubber. I've never thought a tyre to be sexy, you should get out more Nat I'm thinking of putting my Hankook Ventus TDs on for the full day.

Are they on different rims? Would be taking at least another 2 wheels with me if that's an option. I wrecked one of my continentals at sprints, the carcass let go and tread/tyre moved. Was undrivable. Fortunately had my spare in the car. Wouldn't want to wreck a tyre early in the day and have to park up, or worse not be able to get home.

yes. will be bringing 2 or 4 extra wheels / tyres for just in case.

in saying that, in June last year I did a track day at Norwell, had 7 sessions of 5 laps each and the tyres held up (cold tarmac though probably why), but I drove too slow on the track..

hoping for <25 degrees air temp, dry weather and warm tarmac, that'd be perfect!

A day like today will be ideal. I wouldn't expect a tyre to deform like this one did, but hot weather, high load cornering, multiple heat cycles and driving like it was stolen conspired against longevity.

I've never driven on semi's, so that should be a learning exercise. Not quite sure what to expect. Will start with cold tyre temp of 28psi, though have to do more research to better understand the tyre behaviour.

My boss told me they do need to get warm before you go all out and always check the pressure.

A few yrs ago i was in marulan track day, someone on semis told my friend (he had conti sc3) to lower the air prrssure down to 28-30psi, i was skeptic but he followed and by the afternoon the contis' sidewall just looked awful! Lol.

Btw, Seems like someone got a neck pillow here!

Hankook Ventus should be at 32psi warmed up for best performance

Does anyone have a good tyre pressure gauge ?

                    On another note sorry Sean
I had the pleasure of meeting the the guys who run Downshift tonight and they are looking at starting a timed sprint session at Norwell on the 21st, it'll be with driver training

Oh and did anyone see that special report on the Speed channel last night about that angry R driver that looks really scary?

My mum has one of those things for long sleeps in the car, I hope this guy isn't planning on falling asleep at some point?

Haha, that's gold. Looks like a ferret stuck to his neck. Go Speed Racer, Go.

Re tyres, will run Bridgestone RE55s' on front the R888's on the rear. The 55's are a 215 while the 888 are 205's, though that's assuming no scrubbing which I'll know over weekend after tyres go on rims tomorrow and I trial fit to car.

Boys running street tyres, make sure you've got more pressure than OEM specs for the car. That will make sure the sidewall holds up in corners. My car says 39psi minimum unloaded, up to 43.5 fully loaded, so I run 44 cold for track, up to 46.

He looks like he could use a sleep.

He also looks like one of those guys who could still drive really well fully asleep at the wheel.

Yes mate, Audi TT rims. The 888 are the same rolling diameter, the 55s a little larger.
