Put me on the reserve list again please Can't believe how fast these things fill up.
This is just happy laps guys, don't get too worked up about it, if you want serious racing then do sprints etc, no reason to stop the slower cars coming out, you can easily pass them on the straights, no reason to sit right on their ass and make them feel uncomfortable like a couple of people did to me at this last one, its not going to make anyone go any faster, if anything they'll go slower in case they mess something up so you don't write off two cars when you hit them. These aren't sessions to be setting new personal best lap times, they're just supposed to be a bit of fun for everyone in a safer environment then the street, so lets keep it that way
Watch out for this guy, Clay, he's a big baby. Hey Al, weren't you supposed to be at the last happy laps? Where were you?
Thanks, I take back the baby comment.
Apology accepted. Like I said, your the man.
I was watching your video Ben, you can really hear that CTS sucking!! You really only had a few opportunities to open up, shame you couldn't keep up with Swalee, he looked like he was flying out there. How are you finding the new mods?
Yeah, I couldn't make it, I need new brake pads and fluid. It was too bloody hot, so went to Moreton Island instead.

I think it's the roof rack mod he's got.

Love em. Couldn't live without em. I think I'm in the low 5's. As soon as I have a proper CAI on, I'll head back to the drags, do a proper 0-100 and get dyno'd.

I didn't mind the S-cargo. I too thought it was pretty cool for something odd to be on the track. I held back behind him through the back of the track even though there was probably enough room to overtake him, but I didn't want to cause any dramas as my car isn't the fastest in a straight line. I used those laps as an opportunity for cool down laps. I must admit, the few cars I did overtake I did get a little close on the last corner but that was mainly because I need as much of a run up as possible to get past other cars if they don't slow down for me (late turn in -> early, fast exit).
The double session sounds good, should have been good when I had the old slow DS3. I think I'd be in the slow group haha. Is the $50 for each driver/eater for 30 min? or is it $50 for 60min and $25 for 30 min like usual?
Probably for the best I do have a turbo DS3 now so I don't hold as many people up as usual.
And Ben i agree you'd be good for QR too I remember you brought it up on here a few months ago.

Okay list has been updated.
The last event showed an issue with the number of cars, newer people and the wider variety of speeds we were seeing.
I will definitely be in contact with Lakeside today to see if we can get something sorted (hopefully at the same price per person as we have now).

That's it hey. We're all out there to have fun and welcome any new comers, irrespective of the car they are running, but the vast differences in pace (for whatever reason that may be) causes an increased risk to all. These are fantastic events and can be ran safely/safer when we have cars so widely spread in circulating speed. (I didn't say lap times, what laps time... Hehe)
I had no problem with the slower cars moving over, tho had some laps I kept it 4th gear while traffic cleared. I also pulled over to find some clear track - not that it helped much, lol.

IMO, I didn't see any "newer people" holding up traffic, it was more the "veterans" of the event. At one time I even went off the track to let the group in front get away (I think you saw that Clay). It seemed there was a split with two groups, as I didn't see half of the cars, it looked like they were bunched up the whole 30mins. Either way, I think it is just the slower cars (not necessarily new people) that held it up. Maybe we should somehow set a grid order which would split the two groups. Like giving slower cars a head start of half a lap/three quarters.

As a "slower car" (stock GTI) and a first timer at the track, I definitely made an attempt to allow others to pass me on the straights.
My apologies to all of those who I may have held up (especially in the first 10 or so minutes). Next time I will start more towards the back of the pack.
Overall I had such a great time, great to meet other like-minded people. Would love to continue attending events like this.

Lets assume the spread of lap times is roughly 10sec (+- 5 sec to average of around 78s per lap), a fast car will lap a slower car potentially twice. I usually head out in the front of the pack and usually takes 2-3 laps to catch the back markers from the start. So any head start is lost pretty quickly. It'd be ineffective to bunch the group up from the start too.
But this is happy laps, operative word being happy, so not to be negative or critical.
