this was by far the biggest VAG event I attended upto now, I had a great laugh over 4 days and will be back, I hope it gets bigger,
Australia needs bigger and longer shows and my hat goes of to any one whole has the wall nuts to even contemplate doing something like this, for me the whole experience is the social side of things and the cars come second. I have made a few good friends over the last few months because of the golf and look forward to interstate events with them.
I have experienced the big European shows and if the incident which has created the last three pages (and given me a smile) was the worst of it then the day was a massive success. There were no fights, no drunken louts, no burn outs and more importantly no police which to me means all good.
I hope this part of the thread doesn't have an impact on the show being organised again and I hope that there is some competition created between states both in shows and quality in cars, at the end of the day it's supposed to be fun and the cars are supposed to be the reason total strangers get together and socialise from different areas,
Thank you for the weekend, it was a great laughDon't know where I'm going but I do know where I've been

“It’s now very common to hear people say, ‘I’m rather offended by that.’ As if that gives them certain rights; it’s actually nothing more….. It’s simply a whine. It’s no more than a whine. ‘I find that offensive,’ it has no meaning, it has no purpose, it has no reason to be respected as a phrase. ‘I am offended by that.’ Well so (*)(*)(*)(*)ing what?”

Originally posted by Shakey View PostIt was a great show and there were some fantastic cars. But overall I was somewhat peed off at the professionalisim of some people. You advertise this show on a public forum. This forum is not a private forum but open to people who are car buffs and enjoy the VW product and it's off shoots (Audi , Skoda etc) The day is promoted as a family day and open to the public...which is held in a park. Como Park to be exact, a public park open to everyone. What peed me off was seeing a dad walking around with his daughter and stumbling across a car near the entrance with a blow up (Doll) sex toy seated in the front passengers seat. You should have seen the poor mans embaressment when asked by his daughter "Dad..what is that?" Now I'm talking about a young 8 year old child here fellas. A young 8 year old innocent girl. Then walking around I see a car with a sticker or motif in the right hand corner of the windscreen clearly visable to everyone that said...."****ing Classic"
If this is your attempt at holding a car show for VW fanatics, then you won't see me at the next one. Unless you remove these Imbeciles and create some professionalism with your meetings...I won't be back. This sort of behaviour is not acceptable especially being held in a public place which can be viewed by young inocent children who have been brought along by mum or dad. I hope this message rings bells to these unprofessional charators!
You would positively poo yourself if you went to a VAG show in the USA (SOWO 2010 was the best show I have ever been too!!).
Remove your rose coloured shades and get over yourself."If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

I had a great time over the weekend, thank you so much to everyone involved, to all the people who turned up over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Good to meet some of the Sydney guys too - you're all good guys, Saturday night was fun and I look forward to coming up to Sydney for one of your shows later in the year. Good to meet you finally too Ray.
For a long time I've wanted to make it down to Victoria for a show and this one was a great experience. I really appreciate all the work that you put into the event Jarred. I thought the awards were well suited to the image and tone of the event, and that the variety of air and water, old and new was great to see.
Here are a few pics from the week leading up to the show when a few people were putting in lots of effort to get work done in time:
