                • Great weekend as always.

I want to write a massive write-up as always but just have no time currently. Still have 700 photos to go over But I will say my thanks!

Thanks to Lee, Jose and Anthony for being great roadtrip companions! No thanks to the hotel that gave us a room with a non-functioning A/C. Thanks to Reece of Estblshd for showing us around Melbourne city on Saturday, and Matthew for carting us around at night, great to finally meet you! Congrats to the VW boys down in Melbourne for organising a great show (was refreshing to see different-styled awards not dependent on the model of the car) and thanks for welcoming us to the BBQ. Also thanks to the Stanceworks boys that came out for dinner that night too.

It was great to catch up with everyone. I will see all of yous again in a month's time at Dubs in the Square and/or 100mm's event.

Once all my photos are done, I'll put a link up. Not anything you guys haven't seen yet though.
                  Past: Mk3 Golf 2L 8V, Audi 8L A3T.
                  Present: Mk3 Golf variant.

It was a great show and there were some fantastic cars. But overall I was somewhat peed off at the professionalisim of some people. You advertise this show on a public forum. This forum is not a private forum but open to people who are car buffs and enjoy the VW product and it's off shoots (Audi , Skoda etc) The day is promoted as a family day and open to the public...which is held in a park. Como Park to be exact, a public park open to everyone. What peed me off was seeing a dad walking around with his daughter and stumbling across a car near the entrance with a blow up (Doll) sex toy seated in the front passengers seat. You should have seen the poor mans embaressment when asked by his daughter "Dad..what is that?" Now I'm talking about a young 8 year old child here fellas. A young 8 year old innocent girl. Then walking around I see a car with a sticker or motif in the right hand corner of the windscreen clearly visable to everyone that said...."****ing Classic"

If this is your attempt at holding a car show for VW fanatics, then you won't see me at the next one. Unless you remove these Imbeciles and create some professionalism with your meetings...I won't be back. This sort of behaviour is not acceptable especially being held in a public place which can be viewed by young inocent children who have been brought along by mum or dad. I hope this message rings bells to these unprofessional charators!

                        • You have a point Shakey, but those people were in no way affiliated with ILV Events and what they choose to do in public places is really their own decision. The first time I drove in Melbourne I had someone waving a sex doll out of window at me - in a public place. And as for distasteful/offensive stickers - look at a huge proportion of cars on the road with the same. Especially the 'f*ck off we're full" stickers which is borderline illegal as in most migrants opinions it incites hate at any non-Australians i.e. a third of melbourne's population.

I really respect you're opinion and as an organiser of an upcoming show I am going to take it on board to make sure there are few things that can give our car scene negative connotations.

First off, the word you are after is characters.

Secondly, as with any social meet like this there will always be individuals, ala the person who created the 'rat rod' Mk 4 with ILV inside the open doors, the same as people who drastically lower their cars, or instal monster superchargers, or put stickers all over their cars. If it was a dubway sticker on the car, could a Subway store manager get offended? Maybe. Just because it is not as you personally feel 'good taste' doesn't mean that you can jump on here and slander all of us off as a community. How about a hot rod show? Would you be offended the same way with a magical work of airbrushed art on a car that (shock, HORROR!) might show a woman's breasts? Or nightmare inducing skeletons and the walking dead drowning in a bath of hell-fire? Or the women dressed in 50's garb and covered in tattoos?

Just because someone isn't the same as you, doesn't give you the right to jump on your high horse. As Bryce Courtney said, "everybody doesn't have the right to be the same, everybody has the right to be different..."

Think about that the next time you open your trap.

                            Rant over.
