Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • [QUOTE=THE_EGG;893343]Jesus, that is one quick little car. Something to aspire to for me having a PSA 1.6T engine too.

Its a great engine, isnt it? Nice Bee!! I didnt know they share the engine, you'll go quicker with the mods planned

Yup! My understanding is that the turbocharger is the only thing that is different in the engine bay. They also looked mighty similar comparing the two on the day. My DS3 has a smaller turbo than the JCW but the JCW shares everything with the DS3 Racing and probably upcoming 208 GTi.

I'm still getting my head around how much torque is available almost anywhere in the rev range making it a breeze to drive on the street.

Hmmmm...who could that have been? Perhaps it's because his short shifter stuck.

You're lucky. Last time at QR happy laps within 30 sec I had a rock chip my windscreen right in front of the driver, needing replacement!
Next one at Lakeside is 20 Jan, which is already full I believe.

If your referring to me Steve, These things happen, I am sorry but I've got a few myself from happy laps. Ask Nat, he pulled out early at one session. Anyway it was more dust than anything, there was some noticeable stones at the entry into the straight near the cones.

                    • prior to my first happy laps on 25 jan 12, my front bumper and bonnet were smooth as a baby's ass... but they have marks here and there now... and the windscreen too!

but, that's a small (or BIG like Ben with windscreen replacement) price of having fun

a proper track day would have less cars, more space and less chance of getting stones. but they cost $150-$250 a half day session.

a bumper and bonnet respray would be around $500-$800 i think.. will do that when the time comes

Its all good, i was just being a smart arse. If it came over wrong sorry, sarcasm is hard to type I am sure i told you anyway, if it was you (red gti)
I did get a few when i was following each lap but as i said its all in good fun, just having a dig its the risk you take when you do these things so its all good.

                        • Steve I thought you were referring to Grandturismo because you saw him hit the dirt on turn 2 in the video. His GTI is black on black on black on blackety blackness. Apparently it gets the girls.

All good Steve, I wasn't sure if you were semi serious or not. It really is painful when you notice some chips though, I totally understand. See you at the next one with my bonnet bra on
