GAD German Auto Display Picture and Report thread.
Thanks for a great day. It is always good to see old faces and new ones within the community. I didn't realise the number of interesting characters within the group and that made the event even more fun so thank you to you too.
I made the trip last year and enjoyed myself so much I decided to make the trip down from Sydney again. I too preferred the grass setting from last year but things happen and you get on with life. But this is not to say I didn't enjoyed this years location because it was functional and pleasant as well.
I liked to say I don't enter these events competitively but will happily accept an award or trophy with a smile in respect to the hard work the organising committee has put into the event.
Air-cooled vs water cooled, excuse my ignorance but i wasn't aware it existed? If so, it needs to stop. We can all agree both categories are unique and special.
Just my 23psi.

Thanks Ghost for jumping on and being part of the conversation.
At the end of the day, it was a mistake, and mistakes happen. Hindsight is always 20-20, isn't it?
I'm sure we've all had situations that we've been in that we've later though, "I probably could have handled that differently". It was unfortunately that the mistake occoured and the fluff that surrounded it, but I'm sure we can all move on.
Please don't take me comments as being excessively negative or critical, I do know how much of a whirlwind show day can be for an organiser.
At the end of the day, I had a great time at the show, and wasn't there to win a trophy (although I was super rapped that I got two )
Simon - I will have a go at you for the fairness of Trophies - who on earth awarded a car with 7.5" wheels that aren't daily'd as 'best stance'! (for those who don't know what I'm talking about, my monoblocks!) and thank you so much for finding my tripod - life saver!
Nah - I actually thought the categories were great, and the awards went to the right people. Jose with the MK2...very deserving of both Best MK2 and Best Paint - etc etc. I wasn't even expecting there to be a Polo section because our turnout wasn't as good as expected - but still awarded to Troy's unbeatable beast.

Ha Ha,Thanks mate I think some one saw all that rubber from your wheels on your arches. There are quite a few quality Polo's out there (Two awesome ones come to mind, Troys Black Polo and Ant in Brisbanes little red devil) so had to have a Polo Trophy! I agree turnout could've been better for Polo's though

Before jumping out of this thread, I'd just like to thank Ghost, Pierre and Smead for taking the time to respond to my posts, also the to the people in the club tent and the Judges, thank you for the hard work on the day and behind the scenes you obviously put in to make the weekend happen, being a volunteer on a committee is an all to often thankless task.
One 2 cents worth of suggestion I'd like to put forward that may help in future, is when the Judges have decided what awards will go out, maybe go around and place an appropriate coloured sticker on each of the awarded cars' windscreen, detailing the award for that vehicle, say 45 minutes, or whatever, before the actual Presentation. It would remove the element of "surprise" from the presentation but would provide an opportunity for a problem to be identified in a manner that would allow the Judges to regroup and make a correction if ever needed. It wouldn't be much different to many other events such as the Footy, V8 Supercars or even the Olympics where awarded individuals are aware of their standings before the presentation.
