It really is sad that there is so many VW/Audi workshops in Sydney/Canberra/Melbourne and so few actually enter any kind of motorsport events .

What is also sad, is that there are a suprising number of exotic cars owned in those states and people are to scared to take them off the road and have some fun in them. Not sure what the point in owning a car capable of 300km/h and sitting on the speed limit on the road all the time

I don't know about being too scared - there are plenty of 'car people' who just aren't 'motorsport people'. My wife for example loves her cars but hates wearing a helmet and doesn't see the point of driving around and around in circles on a race track - she'd much rather a spirited drive from A to B on quiet public roads. That said she did take home 2 trophies from last year's event...

Of course 'motorsport people' also realise that most exotic cars (with the exception of track-specific models like the 911 GT3/RS/2 range) are not very good 'motorsport cars', so they'll enter these types of events in their 'motorsport cars' instead.

Finally, there are a number of exotic car owners who seem to consider that their ownership of those cars places them on a societal rank somewhere between A-List Celebrity and God. Judging by the fun, down-to-earth atmosphere at last year's 1000m sprint event, you wouldn't want those owners to enter this event anyway...

Very excited that my Polo is getting a run down the 1000m - a mate had to withdraw his car so he'll be taking my Polo instead. Can't wait to see how it stacks up against the big boy R and R32 - I suspect it'll run out of puff somewhere about 180kph or so.

We would like to thank NTW and Federal Tires for donating $1000 of tires as prizes. Oh, and we have a nice sum of cash from another sponsor as well, which will be announced in more detail in approx 2 weeks.

The 300km/h trophy looks great as well. Will your name be on it?
