Im just leaving now . Ive bolted my fire extinguisher to one original bolt in the passenger seat hole as Im not running a seat there .
I think that will be permanent now as I never race the car with a passenger seat .
Anyone here going to the dinner ?

Apparently someone just went full pelt for 2km then through a landing light and then on fire

                    What a day !

I left my workshop at about midnight before driving down . All was good until just after Goulburn when I almost hit a roo . That was about 2 am and usually when I drive at that time Im half asleep . I basically made the decision to go on the emergency breakdown lane cause I know kangaroos cant jump backwards . After that it was like I was driving through western plain zoo at Dubbo . Ive never seen so many kangaroos ever , both alive and dead , then you had the foxes , rabbits and even a deer ! There was also countless people on the side of the road that had hit a Kangaroo and were damaged ! I ended up getting the the airport at 5am , it was 2.5 degrees and cold as ! I had a quick nap before I woke up with 3 cars at the front gate at 6am . Done the usual scruteneering and prepped the car . My first run was ok , I didnt run till 11ish due to the incident and was wondering if Id get more than 1 pass at that point ! My start was terrible as launch control was playing up . Speedo indicated was nearly 240 . Second run was sweet , everything went perfect and speed indicated was just over 240 . I had run a 23.8 (I couldnt read the time board properly) and was in position 17 . I looked at all the other Euro cars and I was pretty sure I was the fastest Euro with the Porsche turbo being 1 position under me and the lambo 3 down from that . I had another 2 runs before I called it a day ended up in position 18th overall which Im stoked with considering how many cars were towed there and how many had either much more capacity than me and/or also weighed less ! I met a guy Mark with a green torana . Ended up going to the dinner where I won the fastest Euro trophy , woo hoo . Kudos goes to the guys who gave their vouchers to the chick who ran off the runway . I think for next year they will mow the grass there ! The drive back was almost uneventful apart from near Canberra airport having a roo jump out in front of me , I had Maccas at Goulburn and got back at 2:30 am .

My photo album is here :

Congrats bug_racer - great result! I was trying to catch you all day to talk about the R but didn't manage to do so - would have enjoyed hearing what you've done to it. Do you have a build thread up at all?

For some reason the roos were out in force on Saturday morning - we had quite a few close encounters ourselves coming down in convoy from Canberra at 5am.

Trap speeds are out - bug_racer's Golf R ran 214.3 which was just slower than the Gallardo and behind the other euros he beat time wise. I guess the R's grip and launch method worked perfectly for the surface.

The Polo wheezed its way to 186.5kph- shy of the 200kph I was hoping it would pull but not too shabby I guess.
