Looking forward to this one! Barnesy and DJ talked me into it yesterday (okay, Saturday) at an impromptu XR5OC gathering up the (not very) Sunny Coast. Have been going to Lakeside for years (hanging over the fence since '88, in fact) but this will be the first time I'll have driven the circuit. Can hardly contain myself - though I'll have to on the day, with some close-to-dead rubber on all four corners...

All 4's bald, 300HP and FWD, sounds like an awesome time out at Lakeside!

I completely agree, it isn't racing, just a fun 30 minutes to push the cars a bit harder than we can do safely on the road.
Still it is interesting to see how the different makes/models go in this environment

That must be the top gear series yeah?? Looks like an interesting format. Depending on what's on after our session, I may stick around for a looksy.

Qualifying & Race Series

At Queensland Raceway qualifying is held on the National Circuit and then three scratch races of 5 x laps will be run in the following order, the Sprint, Clubman and National circuit. In other words the races get longer as the day progresses until the final race of the day which is a 5 x lap handicap race on the National circuit.

Top Gear at Lakeside is a little different. At Lakeside you will receive 3 x 5 lap races followed by final 5 x lap handicap race.

Competition Groups

QR Sedan
4 doors & roof
QR Sports
2 doors
QR Racers
No door & no roof

Invited Groups
Are groups that have bought their own slots or people that want to have their own group of at least 18 cars. Invited groups must be scheduled into the program at least six weeks before the event date. We can usually take a few extra cars if we are notified on the Saturday before the event during the Top Gear Sprint or General Practice sessions. Sorry but Sunday morning entries are too disruptive.

Will be interesting to see how it goes out there after the upgrades.
Lakeside isn't nearly as hard on the brakes as QR is.
