I'll aim to get along to the next top gear sprints to see the spirit of the events. Don't want to be part of the non-celebrity challenge. And yeah, some advanced driver training would go a long to keeping everyone safer (in terms of ability and predictability). I've done 2 advanced days with Safe Driver Training at warwick, always learn something new, or rehash skills that you've got lazy in applying. Couldn't recommend these guys highly enough.

doing an advanced driving course such as the vw driving experience at evolution level is highly recommended before doing sprint or track day events.
qr actually does an advanced course for $99 per head with min of 5 participants, could be something we should arrange for some ppl who want to learn new or refresh their techniques.
Great shots Clay by the way.Last edited by grandturismo; 18-06-2012, 07:10 PM.

A day licence is available from Lakeside upon entry, i think it's an extra $20 for an annual licence.

After reviewing y video i found 2 clean laps, both on 1:12 which i think is pretty good considering the fact that we had restricted speads through the back end.

What ever is agreed count me in and I'm not to worried about the $135 - $200 cost. I like the idea of going out with a group (who ever from the forum who wants to) who I know and get on with rather than randoms. The main reason is that we less likely take risks that will put someone in a place they don't want to be in (if they are randoms they are less likely to feel accountable). Also as we do and will continue to drive together regularly we are more likely to know how the others react and less chance of accidents. I know in the Lotus and BMW Clubs etc there are regular Sprint style events with not to many race incidents (cars are more likely to get mechanical issues than an incident) and I think that is cause they know each other and what their cars mean to them (+ with forum platform we don't have to many boring meetings with Treasury Reports etc lets make sure they RIP). I think as much as I like Lakeside, QR might be the good stating point with the shorter track to control top end speeds and more runoff. Again I love going to Happy Laps but feel it would be good to do a group event like this for maybe people to have another howning avenue away from the street and a bit more competition for bragging rights and especially seeing them self improve against the clock.

Would be awesome for others to get the fanatic so we can compare sectors and lines. Can see where cars are faster and slower through corners.
Keen for a group session at QR or Sprints at Lakeside. The next top gear appears to be August, Sunday 26th.
If we can get a handful of us, we should be right to go together for sprints. There's QR sprints on Sunday 8th July and Lakeside sprints Sunday 22nd July.

Regarding to the little awesome machine, give me that idea again after Tax time~~~~
And if you are going to any Sprint sessions, let me know. I will tag along but prefer QR for start so I can test the brakes~Car:

I am generally flat from perhaps 1/3 through last corner onto straight all the way into braking zone of first corner. Around... 185/190kph. Then it's flat from there through to entry to Hungry corner where it's pretty heavy braking (but not too much speed lost). Key is to keep it flat and minimize drag/scrub over the top. Stockish Clio 182 is good for 1:05ish on street tyres.
The final corner is in my opinion the hardest. It takes big balls to get on the power early and let it drift out to the wall. A lot of time can be made up there.Last edited by domlebo70; 19-06-2012, 04:45 PM.
