The videos show overly aggressive driving for 'happy laps'. At a previous event they mentioned spacing between cars as well which i thought would be even more relevant for this event. This is definately not a sprint session!
We were all informed to treat the track as a day out driving with your mates. This means checking your mirrors and driving to the conditions and traffic. If you do this kind of driving on our roads, damn, i'd report you to the cops just so i could feel safe. Watching those videos makes me ever so glad i stayed away from the trouble pack.
don.lol haha we drive more violent then that out on our cruzes. become one with the trouble pack. you know you want to!
youl love it. just like you did being out with frazza that last time at springbrook......although they were punished with ecu issues.

They aren't very good, but I got them from the Citroen dealership-apparantly they are standard for the mini cooper but an option for the DS3 being a "citroen racing" add-on that was fitted to my car. Hence why the cooper outputs 90kw standard and the standard ds3 1.6 outputs 88kw. I would recommend spending a few bucks more on iridium plugs. Here's a link for NGK iridium ones, NGK - Euro Car Parts UK (please note these ones are for the mini/PSA 1.6 engine) . I was recommended this website by the DS3 forums. Pretty easy to use, just put in your car on the left and go search.

Mind u mine is k04, and on the track is always above 4k rpm, driving at the edge, so that explain, outside temp if I didnt rmb wrong, 28
true. And it makes a considerable difference if you're shifting on redline each gear or 500rpm short. A lot of heat is generated in that range and on most street style tunes minimally rewards in laps times. The cars I've tracked haven't offered much better lap times by revving to redline, so have got accustomed to shift around 6000-6200rpm, riding the torque and rarely go above. Unless it's a one lap shoot out or battling

I'm hapi to rev til red line becuz the boost is all the way to red line, but yeah, down side of it will be hot oil LOL

The torque curve is the more important one to look at as it drops off around 5k RPM so staying on boost past that nets less of a performance gain than changing and being in a higher torque band, especially if you hold off until after 6k and go to red.
Sigh the joys of having an N/A engine. Shifting at 6000-6500rpm as max torque is at ~5000rpm and max power 6000-6500rpm. Can't go much higher than 6500rpm though, the car will shift itself once it hits 6900rpm.

Unless of course his torque curve starts later than most and he therefore needs to rev it out or risk dropping into a dead zone when he shifts up. That was the case with my last car. You got no advantage going past 4500, but you had to go to 5500 otherwise it was flat in the next gear. This was a V8, hence the somewhat pre-historic redline.

I see your point but with a 3000RPM range for peak torque i don't think it will drop out.
Also, i am assuming it's DSG as most of the GTI's and R's are.
I'm more than happy to let someone past me, even if I know that I could be faster than them. Bottom line is that I don't have a spare $50,000 lying around to pay out my lease if my car gets written off, so if someone wants to drive with utter disregard for others, I would rather they do it well out in front of me rather than right behind/beside me.
On the other side of the coin, as others have well said, if you're being held up by someone, take it easy for a lap or two. It gives you a chance to chill out a bit, gives your car a bit of a rest, and best of all, gives you some clear track between you and the slower vehicle.
If I wanted to drive my car above 80-90% I would get a helmet and a suit, pay the bigger dollars and race it in the sprints, and I would urge others to do the same if that's what they want to do.
To me, this event is just a chance to have a spirited drive, and drive the way I might otherwise drive on a windy mountain road if this event were not available to us. Because I would much prefer to drive "spiritedly" within the confines of a racetrack, I very much want this event to continue to remain open to us for that very reason.
