Nice vids, i see i held up a few of you. :/ But anyway that was amazing how you kept up with the lotus at the start. BTW how did you mount your camera and also what camera were you using? I'm interested as I'll be driving alone next time. Thanks.

The one I was behind the whole way down the straight was being driven by a Sth African gentleman. Not sure whether that's you or Sharkie?

The Octavia had some genuine grunt too. For my sanity please tell me it had been fettled with?? Bloody good motors aren't they.

sillywet - Clay is correct; the Octavia has a Stage 1 APR upgrade - DSG helps too! (although the wagon body weight doesn't)
I wasn't hammering it though - got spooked a bit by someone trying to undercut me around the back of the track (which I couldn't understand given the clear instructions that were doled out in the briefing) - I wasn't keen on having my daily driver bent!

Thanks again Clay for organising a great day - it was good to catch up with some familiar faces and meet some new ones!

Lesson learnt for next time, mount hte video camera as close to the windscreen as possible otherwise it looks a lot slower than it really was.

That could have been me, and for spooking you I do apologise. You're absolutely correct about the clarity of instructions, as were those about letting faster cars pass... I'd been behind you for a few laps and faster around 3/4s of the circuit, I couldn't pass/you didn't let me pass on the straight, even to a point where I'd flashed my lights a couple of times (I know, totally rude).

Regardless, I didn't mean to spook and where I passed was in a straightline well before turning in to any corner. I'll take your comment on board and also suggest checking your mirrors regularly when on the circuit. Again, sorry if that impacted your enjoyment.

PS - your car does haul down the straights, was mighty impressed with that and love the wagons.

Nice vid Clay. The way your camera catches the light from my LED tail-lights (2nd vid) makes it look like I'm on the brakes around the whole track, which I promise is not the case, lol - although yes I was only driving at about 70-80%

Yeah LED's and filming don't work too well, you see it on topgear a lot as LED's look constant to the human eye but filming captures at a slower rate or something so it tends to capture them being on and off.
