Great to catch up briefly last night, really killed my overdose of boredom...

As i said last night, I'm keen Bernie but I think it would help to pencil in a date and cost (say for Kingston) and then see what the interest is like. If there isn't enough interest it shouldn't be hard to cancel if you give them enough notice.

Yeah I agree with not caring about speed, sure faster is better, but a big group would be a laugh and they're not theme park kart slow... they'll work well if it's a big group.

Sad Kingston shut down, I think public liability insurance and rent would have been a killer there.

Basically, options seem limited. I know Big Kart Track is the best value ($85 for 2 x 30 min laps) and the longest track, which is why I think it is still the best option. i think we could arrange for timed laps too.

So it comes down to Kingston or Big Kart Track.

For timing, I suggest 2 March (Friday night) as we have the happy laps in January. Unless someone else has other ideas?

I'm keen to come along. Be my first thing to go to with other VW owners so I'd be looking forward to it. But a friday night would be next to impossible. Saturday night would be tops though. Just a thought. I reckon I'd be the driver that makes everyone look by comparison so speed of the carts matter not to me. I've never been to the one at the sunny coast so thats got my vote if we are counting

I'm interested! Big Kart Track is kind of local... A lot of fun, except for the... (see next bit)

I've been asking them for years to add timing to their track, to no avail... how do you propose to arrange for timed laps?

i'd be in depending on my availability.

not sure why archerfield speed karts closed, although i went past there just after the floods and it had been underwater so perhaps that did it.

but the old go kart track at archerfield (colebard st) has go karts again:

ok so now we have 14 plus a couple of maybes.

I say if we get to 15+, it is a goer.

As mentioned before, I think 2 March is the way to go and big kart track is still the best value for money for what you get. (2 x 30 min sessions for $85). And for those who say the karts are slow, you can always go for one lap and swap if it is crap.

Welcome to bring friends and partners too.

Count me in + 1 (GTI111). We live just up the road near Maroochydore so we'd be keen for sure.

Awesome! So we now have 17! Hopefully a few more (Donnie)

So for those who have said yes, if there are no objections, it is on March 2 (Friday night). I will call the track this week to book it and see if we can get timed laps.

FYI - I bags Kart 01 (as that was mine last time )

I went out to the Big Kart Track on the fringe of the Sunny Coast last night and had heaps of fun. First time ever been there and on a go kart. Had a couple of spins, but passed a whole heap of other karts in the corners

I had an idea that we could have a VWW event where we cruise up to the sunny coast and head out on the track for an hour (2 x 30 min blocks). If we could get 15-20 ppl, that would be awesome and potentially have some massive egos to boast afterward.

What do you all think? Anyone keen for this?

Since its a friday night, put me down as a maybe since it depends when I finish work. Chances are I could only get away at 5:45 in the evening and I work at Redland Bay. According to google it'll take me a touch under an hour 40 with good traffic and no stops for dinner!

So yeah, put me in the maybe column please
                              Sorry.
