    Hi All,

Was a good morning with decent gaps in there. It was quite fun getting to 180kmph by the kink on the main straight, but with stock brakes, I didn't really wanna keep on it until the corner.

I was quite impressed by Nat's stg2 mk vi and the little RenaultSport Clio.

Thanks also to WIR35 for pointing out that VW now have a fix for the wastegate rattle.

I'm definitely in for the next one if it is in the first 2 weekends of March, Clay.

I'm disappointed, the only sighting of my car was a very brief red flash flying past at 2:12 on "lakeside 3".

Appears as though you got a very good look at the rear end of a particular vehicle, what was it an Alfa or Fiat or something?

Next one in March, new thread for discussion/nomination on that one.

I think this was a good experience for us to enforce just what this event is about and the limits that we should adhere to.
I drove with all electronic aids on and only once had AWD kick in.

Might consider turning it off next time to work out just how much it affects my driving but i don't want to crash

The RS4 owner's name is Nathan.
His username is in the list on the first page.

All i know about it was htat it sounded like pure s3x when it roared up and overtook me with ease on the straight.

Anyone know the guy with the RS4? Or if he is here can you PM me.

Everyone should drive with traction control off. And stability. Your car will go better around the corners. Just ease into it and increase the speed slowly, its a great way to see how much better the car can handle. I forgot to turn my off for the first few laps, after i did it was so much better. I was also able to spin the wheels between 3rd and 4th

Its funny, with all the extra power the car feels sloppy but that was to be expected.

I'm sure the matter has already been put to rest, but I think it goes without saying that he shouldn't have to have been chastised by QR officials. I saw what he did to get repremanded too, and it was the EXACT thing we were told NOT to do during our briefing. Maybe he wasn't there when we were getting the talk at the start?

And yep, that was me that spun. And it was completely my fault. And yes, he did give me enough room to pass, and I tried to pass in the space he gave. But a combination of greasy (cheap) tyres and standard brake pads that faded out weren't working in my favour.

Anyway - that was the S15's last outing, and from now on I'll be in comptuer controlled Golf R goodness.

OHHHHH is that what you were doing, I was wondering why you going slow then up my backside when I went past then pass me on teh straight

Yep I thought it was quite dangerous being overtaken on a corner that really shouldnt have occurred, and being flashed by lights when that wasnt the instruction for safe passing...

had a good time, thanks again clay!

pity about the complaints, but in the end if we all follow the rules then things should work out fine. we shouldn't take these events too seriously. they're not sprint sessions. i've been on these things with other clubs and they are much more relaxed despite having more track oriented cars. just be patient and considerate. not everyone is going to be going the same speed. i don't mind what type of car people are in (although vw should have preference if it's this forum). by far the most important thing is people's attitude.

i'm sure i was holding people up in the corners but i gave plenty of opportunity for people to pass during the straights. seems that i must have been faster overall than last time though because even when i crawled down the main straight a lot of people were more hesitant to overtake. i even managed to catch up on some people, but usually when we got to the main straight they'd disappear into the distance.

last time i was doing heaps of letting people through on the corners, but it really messed up my driving. braking hard, trying to hold a bad line through a corner so that someone who can't wait 10sec for the straight can overtake wasn't exactly a good idea. when i was doing that there were times when i felt that the car was getting out of control, but this time it all felt safe and controllable.

haven't looked at my vids yet, but my camera battery and mounting system were fails this time. hopefully there's still a few minutes of decent footage. the camera kept switching off with "low battery" despite a full charge (dodgy old spare battery and couldn't swap it while driving) and the head on my little tripod was loose so kept moving. so it seems that i might have a lot of video with my glovebox as the star attraction.

Well bahaved mr hairdresser (Tarmac), clearly the fastest car on the track and sooo well behaved. So much criticism on here, everyone can do better. I didn't go hard enough or pick the right lines 100% of the time either, but I was safe and tried to obey the rules and instructions provided to all of us before entering the track.

Everyone's going to have their own opinions and own perceptions of what is safe. The real message for next time is to focus on what you can control while having consideration for others... Even just doing this will lead to so many different results...

NOW, pics guys... All the guys with the good cameras and video, where are they???
