Cool. Might lock this day in the calendar and give the R a run down the strip. It will be both mine and the cars first 1/4 mile.

Why not , a lot of people are curious how the new vans rate compared to the old ones , you wont be the only van there and you wont have the slowest car either !

                      Registrations are open !

                            Hi All,

I hope race preparations are going to plan (finish the night before and hope it stays together?!).

Pre-paid driver and crew tickets will be issued at the gate when you arrive. There will be a register of names to also confirm who has paid. It is important when you send in your entry to include the full name of every person being paid for. Sydney track officials look after the gate and I may not be there to resolve any extra ticketing requirements.

Volkswagen Genuine Parts have again put together some nice driver bags with VGA goodies and you can collect these from the VWMA tent once you are inside.

On Friday night we have the VW Pizza evening at Dino's Pizza (check the website for full details). Centre Management have kindly allowed the first 30 VWs to arrive for the night the opportunity to park in the shopping mall. There is a waiver to sign that exempts Centre Management from any damage to your vehicle, but Dean has had many a car show there with no incidents. The evening starts at 7pm and goes through until 10pm. Spot raffles and prizes will be given away through the night.

The RC PDNR Drag Racing club will be conducting a round of their championship during the Saturday event, and will also be hosting the VW RC racing around 6-7pm. The club has graciously allowed the use of their high tech track equipment to run the VW RCs. Worth a look at what the PDNR club members have built to go scaled down racing.

Remember it is BYO food and drink on Saturday evening, but the track caterer will stay open until 8.30pm to serve food for those not quite prepared to cook their own. Food and drink are available for purchase right throughout the day.

NB: in case the weather looks nasty for the Saturday, a decision will be made on the Wednesday 22nd February to cancel. All competitors will be contacted by email and text by 5pm that day. If you hear nothing by this time then the event will run as planned.

Please check the VWMA website for further info and details about the racing, and remember entries close Friday 17th February.

                            See you on the track.

                            Cheers

                              Hi All,

Entries close this Friday 17th February 2012. If only for my sanity, don't leave it to the last minute if you intend competing. I encourage anyone considering racing to do so, as the VW scene has been given an excellent opportunity to have their own day on the quarter and it should be grasped with both hands. Track days at Sydney are a precious commodity so please make the most of it in 2012 - don't wait for next year.

The format for racing will be the same as in 2011, with the four classes - Aircooled, Watercooled, VW Bodied and VW Special - competing in a round robin dial your own competition. The Top VW Shootout is open to all vehicles from the four classes who run an 11.85 or better for the quarter. The 11.85 cut-off is quick, but fair given some of the times being run by the VW regulars on the quarter. It's also not too far away from those who are aiming to go even faster at Sydney.

A reminder to check the website for racing requirements and driver apparel, and please be mindful of the ET brackets - I would not like to see anyone go home early because they did not take note of the information.

There will be one more update next week, and as I mentioned before, a notice to cancel should the weather forecast look grim, will be made by text and email on Wednesday 22nd February at 5pm.

                              See you on the track

                              Cheers

The problem with the weather is its so sudden. It comes over quickly, rains hard for an hour or two then becomes sunny again. Its really tropical type weather.

I havent entered yet, waiting for Seb to confirm which car he will be taking

11.85 a time Id love to get
