Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Wakefield Track Day 2011 - 26/8/11

    Update 28/6/11

    Hi All

Well we’re now all filled up with 35 cars / drivers!

Absolutely stoked & want to thank you for getting on board & support my day. Just looking at the list of cars (& characters) we have attending; it’s going to be a cracking day!

At this point in time, all based on 35 cars & drivers, I’m happy to confirm that the costs for the day will be $205.00.

Please be aware, should there be drop outs (Without replacement drivers) this cost may need increase – Obviously we are not anticipating this as we do have people on the waiting list. Will keep everyone informed of the situation.

Without a doubt, as the date draws ever closer there will be more that want to get on board… If you are one of those, please insure you shoot me a PM so I can add you to the waiting list. Obviously it’s not uncommon that we have a few people drop out closer to the event for one reason or another.

Final payments are due by 29/7/11 as this is the date Wakefield require payment in full. Everyone should have my bank details, however should you require them again, please send me a PM ASAP.

To clarify, the only additional cost that may be required is for the AASA license (If you do not already hold one) which is $50.00 for a 1 year license. If you hold a CAMS 2S license, then this will not be required.

As I have mentioned previously, for those who would like to do more Motor Sport events, I would suggest joining a CAMS affiliated club such as JSCC (One of the cheapest, if not the cheapest to join). For more information please visit their website http://jscc.asn.au/ or contact Gavin Bell at events@jscc.asn.au

Drivers are required to be at the track no later then 8:15am to allow enough time to sign in prior to the driver briefing that will take place at 8:30am. We have the track from 9:00am – 4:00pm & to insure we take full advantage of the time, it is imperative that everyone is prompt in terms of arrival time.

No driver will be permitted on the track without going through the driver briefing.

In terms of gear / clothing required, you will need the following:

    • Enclosed shoes.
    • Long pants.
    • Long sleeve shirt.
    • ADR approved helmet.

There will be a total of 4 x groups (Approx 9 cars / drivers per group) & we’ll be running in 15 minute sessions. Groups will be organised in terms of performance & experience. Groups may be re-arranged during the day by our marshals should someone be too slow or too fast for their nominated group.

We will be running at least 2-3 sessions that will be un-timed (Generally first session of the day + 1-2 sessions around lunch time) which will allow people to take passengers for a hot lap, or maybe a little bit of advice. No passengers are permitted during timed sessions.

The shop will also be open during the day, so there is no need to bring a packed lunch or leave the track just to get some nibbles etc.

No doubt I will be giving an update closer to the event, but if anyone requires any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Get pumped ladies & gents!

          Hi Guys & Girls

My apologies for not keeping everything up-to-date... Haven't really been on any forums lately.

Looks like we lost a few of the posts in the great data loss of 2010/11, but I think the list has remained mostly in tact. If you are missing off the list, please insure you send me a PM or post your confirmation in the thread.

Will be sending through my bank account details to those who have confirmed their availability & would appreciate if this is handled in a timely manner.

Have updated the attendees list & it looks like the Liberty ASN members are heavy in numbers Com'mon guys! Plenty of time to get off work & as the members who have previously attended will confirm, it is a fantastic day out

Also, although I am offering this day on the forums I am active on, that doesn't mean you can't invite your friends & family. So spread the word & lets get the numbers up

          Cheers
          Matt

Sorry Matt - have been busy and forgot to get this sorted.

Definately count me in for 1, with hopefully a couple others joining me. In the spirit of boosting VW numbers I'll happily bring the Polo this year though it probably won't be as exciting for hot laps. Should have the 911 Turbo and a tuned Golf R along for the day also.

Deposit for me is on its way to your account today.

(Edit- all 3 confirmed now, deposits on their way).

I'm keen still. Am sorting out a Mk4 R32 clutch atm which is basically taking all my resources so I'll have to hold out for the moment. Hopefully get this sorted soon though and can help out with the monies ASAP.

                      My apologies

Would love to if a month before I wasn't coming back from England and Germany (the Ring in particular). If someone buys my gearbox I may be able to make it down. Try and get a 1.15 out of the Polo.

The ring!? Congrats are in order me thinks

Crunch the numbers & let me know ASAP. Numbers for the day are filling up quicker then expected (Which is fantastic!).

We actually had one of the Liberty guys come down from Brisvegas last year & it would be fantastic to have a few more people make the journey.

PS - Anyone coming from interstate (IE: Not ACT or NSW) I owe you a beer!!!
