Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

yeh his car wouldn't start due to the immobiliser cutting in and not allowing it to run but at least his car got there and im pretty sure his parents were amazed as they did not know it was going to be there... great service and great memories

Shame the immob failed. I got it running for him when it broke down up the coast, ended up being the fuel pump , he was overjoyed when it burst into life and that will stick with me for the rest of my puff, i really took an instant shine to Chris when i went down to help him, he showed extreme keenness and i know it was sinking in, i knew then he had the makings. It was an honour to attend the celebration of his life today, very emotional day indeed, nice to see the VWW attendance too and thanks again to Maca for organising the tribute bouquet , you done us proud mate.
      RIP Chris

It was an absolutley beautiful ceremony, it was a perfect reflection on the person Chris was. I don't think I've ever been so moved as I was today, it was just a wonderful way to celebrate the life of not only a fantastic Dubber, but a good friend.
I'm glad we had the opportunity to have one last cruise with him before the ceremony.

After finding out tonight that his father has intentions of restoring the VR6, I think it would be appropriate to donate the extra moneys from today to that worthey cause. Let me know of you have any objections.

I'd be very pleased for that to happen with any excess donation. It was a great tribute by Chris' father and a tremendous turnout. The strength of his family in getting through such a tough time is remarkable.

well what a day... it was a great turn out to show there support for the family of Chris. i am sure he would be proud and i feel he was with us yesterday without a doubt...

the VW tech worked on his car for over 1.5hrs yesterday trying to get it started and then alex (maca) was an absolute legend and towed it to the ceremony... this touched many people mate and again wanted to thank you for doing it as alot of his other mates appreciated it... anyway when it was time for Chris to leave us from the church, there was a parade of cars reving etc, Chris VW's fired first time and was part of the noise... after this couple other boys worked on the car and got it going and his dad drove the car home and later bought it out for the cruise...this was very touching for everyone and perhaps offered a small bit of closure as memories were shared between everyone and laughs shared... i felt chris was there with us at the church and cruise and with storm all around it didnt rain the whole time his car was out...

i am sure he is with us and his parents thanked everyone for there support of there great son... they were overwhelmed by the response at the church and cruise..

it was great to meet a few more ppl and catch up with others again.. i know this is what chris liked too...

Well done you lot, this would have meant so much to everyone he knew, his beloved family, and indeed Chris himself. Reminds me there are good people out there who actually give a s----

There's a chance Chris would have made a cheeky light-hearted 'tractor' crack at Macas car doing the towing, well done Alex that is symbolic for how much you care about your mates and the fact that I know you would have jumped at the opportunity to help makes it all the more meaningful.

Ill be more than happy to contribute, i met his father when i fixed his fuel pump and we had a good yarn. If hes gonna need any help with anything on that car ill be happy to help. It was a pleasure helping Chris with it. We had a good laugh that night and he drove up to mines a day later to prime my fridge with beer , what a legend. Thats the kind of guy he was. I agree Maca it was a very emotional day and his parents showed incredible strength. First thing i did when i got home was to give my kids a big squeeze.
                  Cheers

Think it was Bring Sally Up from gone in 60 seconds. Great song, very appropriate.

Does anyone have pics from the cruise? PM or post here would be good, thanks.

I received an e-mail from Mr & Mrs Trentham the other day, it read:

.... Could you please thank everyone VWwatercooled with all our heart, for all you have done for Chris’s Dad & I, it will stay in our heart and memory forever; we can not put into words our gratitude. We wish you all a very happy Christmas and very safe driving, give your parents and kids a big hug and tell them you love then.

If Chris was to send a message to you all it is “Pay it Forward” which I think you all did that day (which came into my head the night of the cruise- I was told it was a movie which we will watch in the next couple of days)
