Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Haha. Looks like i've bitten off more than i can chew here, but..

Maris had 14 years to do it.. I can match that. That's if I still own a VW.

-Oh, I also won Modified KG a couple of years ago without even vacuuming the car. hehehe.

Lets see where my lazy arse has been (all from Adelaide since 1996):

        2 Sydney Nationals
1 50 years celebration of VW in Aust in Tasy
        1 Bug-In in Tasy
        1 Bug-In in Melb
        2 Bug-In in Bendigo
        2 Bug-In in Sydney
        2 Bug-In in Brisbane
        10 DOVW in Melb
14 DOVW in Adelaide (3 where I entered 2 VWs)
        1 Bug-In Clare (2 VW entered)
        1 Bug-In Murray Bridge (2 VW entered)
        1 Bug-In Barossa Valley

        Those are the facts.
Now thats what I call a hardcore volkswagenist!!!!!!!

Maris should have his profile changed to the "King of VW shows!"

I can remember travelling around with my dad from a young age & can remember heading to shows like DOVW SA, a VW day at Calder Park & also the VW show at Nambucca Heads in the early days, but no where near to this level of commitment!!!!

        That is insane!

Well Preeny, lets up the stakes.....

I put my hand up several years ago to do what I could to make sure the VWCSA continued.

          President - 3years
          Social Secretary - 5 years
Helped organise our DOVW for many years, design & print our membership cards, produce the fliers for advertising, send letters to the Media (TV, Radio, Newspapers) to advertise our Day, keep a list of all past entrants at our Day to send out a flier as a reminder, advertise our Day on 3 Forums, receive & answer enquiries. All that is now finished and I have 2 daily drivers to prepare by March 21st. Help with the judging by organising them and trying to be more professional each year despite only a handfull volunteering each year, judging, try to take pics of every entrant's VW (didn't have enough time to do that last year) for our Magazine and find a suitable pic for the advertising next year.

Julia my Wife - President 4 years
          Vice Pres - 8 years
12 years of doing BBQs/helping in the food/drink tent at our Day.

So, me & my lazy arse have tried to keep busy.

That's an absolute awesome effort & a real credit to you & wife for putting your hand up & doing your part for the VW SA community, which I'm sure is a very thankless job (just like moderating!).

              Alittle tip...

I'd be careful about mentioning bbq's & DOVW on here. You might get bombarded with crap like "you should really check if your allowed to have a bbq!", "have you got all the right licences, applications & filled out all the right forms?" or "have you got a food handling licence & do you comply with all the health & safety standards?" & my all time favorite "Sausages are really, really, really unhealthy crap!! Your much better off with A wholemeal rye bread sandwich or 2, with lettuce, vintage cheese, and tomato. Apple, orange, banana or other fruit. Plus a nice Latte or Cappuchino from the man in the van!"

Well done mate. That's truly a credit to you.

PM sent Maris. I see no need to start a pissing competition.

We always had the proper credentials and complied with all the Health regulations at the time. These HAD to be shown to the Council.

We no longer do it ourselves as we couldn't get enough volunteers. We now have a couple of people with vans do it, but would you believe we still cop a serve (pun intended) because there is no BBQ.

                        Happens in every sport/social scene.

We used to get people complaining about having no officials to run race meetings (Karts). You'd say "OK well how about you get your official's license then and start helping us?". There was always some BS excuse for that.

                          OK Boys...2 weeks to go.....

The VWCSA will provide a "Watercooled Car of the Show" trophy for the first time ever!!!

This is due to the support you watercooled boys are giving this event each year, and I hope this support will continue....

Think about judging fellas....lets take responsibility for our own catagories and become masters of our own destiny. PM me or post up here if you wish to have a go....I can pair you up with someone who has done it before, and it's not that hard......just need to devote an hour or so....

Bottled water will be provided to all judges.....

Good to see the Watercooled scene getting some more coverage, slowly but surely it will be a larger focus of the show.

How is the "watercooled car of the show" being judged? Could this be a crowds favourite choice, or will it be judged the same as the rest of the show (ie which is the cleanest car?)

Going to be great to see a few interstate guys here repping the watercooled sector
