I've said it before and I'll say it again - you gotta love the aircooled VWs, especially the Type 3s (love those cars).

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Pre-DOVW
Great weekend, nothing else like it. Thanks to everyone for the hospitality you showed us Sydders folk and spending almost every single minute with us too. Can't wait 'til SEDF and drive my ****box, cruising through Chappell St scraping tram lines!
I took about 700+ photos so I'm just sifting through them and editing the good ones. Some are banner-worthy and even wallpaper-worthy, which I'm quite happy with! I'll upload as much as I can to my photobucket - http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c6...Events/09dovw/. I'll have the originals backed-up so if you want some hi-res or wallpaper pics, PM me with the link to the pic!
Not gonna bother starting a new thread so here's a little picture timeline of my weekend through the pre-DOVW festivities (DOVW show pics to come later):
Topping up on some diesel before beginning the journey, starting at ~5:30am after putting on the roof racks and steelies
*sigh*
Met up with Matt @ Moss Vale Maccas, promptly took a couple dozen rolling shots lol
Wide track on the rear caused some rubber carnage! But as they say, if you ain't scrubbin'...
Fast-forward to ~4pm and we're greeted by this lowly vehicle
And went straight to Dom's place for a beer or two and a BBQ. Jarred's car would have been the most photogenic car over the weekend. This thing loved showing off for the camera!
Greeted at Dom's with two of VWA's finest...

More beer and well, shenanigans ensued...
James and Stu showing some love for the camera
And testing out if the rear-vision camera in the CC works... at least the computer issues out a warning!
As the sun came down, we went out for some cruising around Melbourne... the obligatory Chappell St run (read: crawl) was had before making a quick pit stop
Drove to this joint where some of the Melburg Luft guys were having a meet. Didn't take pics though I should've... some cool rat-look aircoolers were there!
A good night's sleep was had before waking and meeting up at Albert Park for a drive down south to Tim's place

Going down a freeway that takes up 4 lanes each way cries out for rolling shots!
Met up with Carl in his Mk2 16V along the way
Sorry Tim, your car's just too bright! This was the only good shot I got of yours!
Finally reached Tim's and greeted by Pierre, the girls and the sleeper

And what picture post is complete without having some sexy Stavros shots?
He was on a roll!
But seriously, thanks for the cooking Steve!
Went back to the motel sunburnt and tired after a full day of hanging out, eating BBQ food and talking VWs. Quick blast at the car wash and we're set for the epicness of the next day i.e. DOVW
Show pics to come later. I only had a wide-angle with me over the weekend so sorry for the distorted pics (though I love the effect).

Well i dropped steve off at about 8pm almost.. not a bad run in just under 9 hours with minimal stops.
We had an awesome weekend, i truly have to thank Tim (golfworx) who gave me a hand (or did most because he cant help himself) for my brakes finally as 6 months laying around half at his joint and half at mine was pretty stupid not having them on lol. Tim and Carl's hospitality (esp carl for letting us ALL stay there) and Dom and everybody else as well.. as per usual had a brilliant and memorable weekend.
Massive thanks to guys @ Jade Auto as well for sorting out my car as well as Seb from EuroAutomotive for supplying me so quickly with a gearbox to get there.. i think also my nsf drive shaft is farked agian but **** happens..
I was determined to get down there, and did and returned in one piece haha.
Massive thanks again to all the Melbourne guys for always being so welcoming and showing us a great time... No thanks for the eratic weather.
Awesome pics, but ill double up and post some of my melb trip as well for the sake of it.. more the merrier i say!
(pics shortly)What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

Yep had a great time driving down and hanging out with the melb crew. Would definately do it again! My poor rear tyres are farked but thanks to tim for lending me his driveway and james for the bmw bolts. Props to matt and matt who drove with ray on the way home so i wouldnt scrub!
Also have to give thanks to stavros as well, i dont think ive seen anybody touch so many weiners over a weekend!!!! Balls of concrete i say!!!!
Overall i think the highlight was listening to all the stupid stories, chillaxing at doms and tims and also the drive. Pity i didnt take pics but next time i think i will
