ok boys and girls. Ive been a bit quiet on this one but its still in the works. Just nutting out some details and looking for some feedback. Its starting to sound pretty hard core though!

Manol has directed me towards this place in harrietville which seems quite cheap. We are shooting for less than $50 per person per night. But it may depend on how many people we get interested. It sleeps up to 30 people and we are hoping to get a minumum of 10

We are waiting to hear back on availability but at this stage we are hoping for mid to late Jan.

The schedule will probably change a little bit as well given that the place has a minimum 2 night stay.

The way im thinking the weekend could pan out is something like this.

Friday
Leave melb in the arvo/early evening for the 4 Hour drive to Harrietville. (people can have a choice to head up on the sat morning/arvo if they wish in a second group)




Saturday
Do a 350k circuit with a couple stops along the way. People arriving on the saturday can opt in or out of this one given they will have made the 350k drive up from melbourne.

In the evening we can kick back and relax in harrietville and take advantage of the following:
• Games Room.
• Large Kitchen.
• Spacious Living Room.
• TV, DVD, Stereo.


Sunday
We can drive the epic great alpine road. Up Mt hotham towards omeo then home via bairnsdale

Sunday night we pass out at home after the 1200km round trip in 3 days.


Anyways im after some feedback before we lock anything in? I realise its pretty full on but thats the idea of it. If anyone has any suggestions. feel free to make them!

Not sure if its still the same, but last time i was up there the road from Omeo to Mitta Mitta was an unsealed logging track from the Blue Duck (awesome food) to close to Mitta Mitta.


I did it on the R1 and it was lots of fun.

The harrietville motel is pretty cheap too.

just looked it up. According to this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omeo_Highway there is 20.5kms of unsealed road? If thats the only section then it doesnt sound too scary. Reports seem to indicate its in reasonable nick but again im open to suggestions of alternative cruise ideas.

Just got word that 15th and 16th of Jan are available. Price is $35 Per person, per night. Plus a 1 off $7 linen charge. So $77 total for the 2 nights.

Looking to get at least 10 people to make it viable. Apparently parking isnt a problem.

I found a few pics so you can judge for yourself, back then it was meant to be 20km of unsealed but was 40-50km and one of the bikes got a puncture so had a pillion most of the way.

personally, id go another way if you care about your car. It was very dusty.
