Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

awesome recon work - cheers. everything you've said is spot on. It's a beaut drive, but not one to drive like a knob on. The drive back from woodenbong to rathdowney is much smoother - constant left and rights on lined road. again, not much room for error. if it bites, you're going down a bank or into a tree.
I'm doing the drive regardless, it's beaut country side to drive through, bring the esky, a jacket, level head and make a day of it.
The picnic ground at rathdowney is a good place to finish off the day, we may need to eat before than.
As for meeting points - I suggest that we all meet opposite Beaudesert mcdonalds before heading out together, there's plenty of room to line up if we need to. Only one set of lights to get through for the next few hundred km's too. maybe a 9-9.15am meet for a 9.30 departure?? open to suggestions.
For those that want to meet up before hand, perhaps propose a few places and sort out the route to Beaudesert relevant to where you live - and fuel required. There's no premium fuel outside of beaudesert, no idea if beaudesert has 98octane either.Track Car: 06 Polo GTI Red Devil mkII

Gone but not forgotten: 08 Polo GTI

I'd suggest having a bit of a looky see on google earth, shows you the sheer number of tight, unfenced, beside the creek 90 degree bends. I'd hate to imagine the crash rates on this road!
Oh and I was at Beaudesert from Ferny Grove in an hour 10mins Coxy, pretty heavy traffic for a lunchtime Monday though.Last edited by Greg Roles; 02-06-2009, 01:46 PM.2014 Skoda Yeti TDI Outdoor 4x4 | Audi Q3 CFGC repower | Darkside tune and Race Cams | Darkside dump pDPF | Wagner Comp IC | Snow Water Meth | Bilstein B6 H&R springs | Rays Homura 2x7 18 x 8" 255 Potenza Sports | Golf R subframe | Superpro sways and bushings | 034 engine mounts | MK6 GTI brakes |

The TDI slipped quite sideways, and I nearly messed up my favourite spiderman undies.
What are the TDI's like to drive? I have always liked them, specially when some old bloke did me in around a set of corners when i wasnt paying attention. Good thing?
So its only an hour or so drive? Why did i have it in my head it was bout 2 hrs? Im going crazy!Coxy

Nice work there Greg. Now that I can see the photos as my interweb was capped before.
I'd be keen for the drive but I'd probably bring up the rear as I think I'm one of the lowest at the moment (~101mm at the cat and just legal) so I'll be taking it pretty slow for a change.
Reckon bring a bit of grub and have a nice little picnic somewhere. I've got a couple of little two ways as well that hopefully will have some range that'll help us out but with the old mountainous sections who knows.
Cheers,
