Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've decided not to enter. I really only want to go for the weekend to relax and socialise. I've decided that It will be too rushed to really enjoy it if i go, plus i could do to hang onto the cash.

        Andrew,

We could always do with a head mechanic for the pits (to check our wheel nuts are tight )

        Will pay in beer

I am still usure whether I will be popping back down the highway Guy, still juggling the logistics and finances. Heading up to Brisbane on them monday I think, got to meet the mighty Davemack. Its a heck of a lot of driving in 10 days and a bit of a drain!!
Let you know mate, talk real soon eh??
          Hmm, did someone say beer??

My Dad is thinking about running his Mk1 on the Saturday and then coming to the show on the Sunday. There would also be a Mk5 2ltr TDI running from our camp aswell...

Is the event still going ahead?

Hey all I spoke to Chris Fraser about this event the other day when I paid for my spot. He asked me to let you guys know that the entry fee is $150 up until the 16th of May and after that the price goes up to $180. So if you're thinking about entering you might want to get in before the 16th. Come on lets get some watercooled VAG cars out there! Its not that far from Sydney and its expressway all the way.

I am hopefully going to be able to come to this, going to have to sort a few things on my car this weekend though. Won't be the quickest car there but should be good fun.

Just a couple of questions, the cams regs state that we need a secondary bonnet securing device, but in Daves post it says only pre 74 cars need them. Can we get some clarification on this?

Am i able to join club vw and sign up for the event without having a cams license? it's a bit late to put it through and I guess it's safer to have all my stuff filled out for the license on the day. I would prefer to avoid the $30 late fee.

                    cheers,

Yeah come along for sure - don't worry no-ones car is ever ready! I'm just going to pay the cams and club membership on the day. I just put "TBA" on my entry form for the cams lic number and club name. Surely if we have our forms all pre-filled it won't take too long on the day.

I wouldn't have thought you would need bonnet pins. Doesn't it just say thats for pre-74 cars? I don't have any on mine either.

Secondary hood restraint can be as simple as a leather belt - so don't panic too much there.

Contact the organisers about joining the club first for your day's licence to see if you can do it all on the day.

It really would be best to get your paperwork done before you turn up.
It's not fair to the organizers to expect them to do it for you on the day.
There's still nearly two weeks to get it done.
There's enough work on the day without adding to it.
                          Cheers
                          Len

Will give the organisers a call this week. I will fill out all the info for club membership and cams license beforehand and pay on the day.

In reagrds to the bonnet latch it must be a non-elastic item. Eg a leather belt, some cable with a carabena etc...
