We`ll have to give up more time and drive to the ghetto of Fairfield to present our plan to club VW, dont expect to see any of you there, we`ll report back.
Lol, Ghetto... Good to see people came and participated, I look forward to attending the nats this year and hopefully we can quiet a few of the those less forgiving individuals this year

To clarify, these are recomendations we are taking to Club VeeDub so are not yet final.

There is still categories for each car in both standard + and modified, although judging will either be drive through OR split, so rather than a 4 people judging all cars which takes all day, the categories will be split. This also means that you could enter your mk1 and judge mk3's

Speaking of judges, we will be on the look out for volunteers so if your interested in helpout out give me a yell.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Thats the time I get home when I go to the club vee dub meetings in Yagoona.

Thats as well as running my own business, and having to do my own paperwork etc, having a young demanding family and still helping the scene of VWs that we love.

Having worked for lots of multinationals Fuzion that is a much more cushy wicket than where I am at the moment.

You have said you dont wanna join the club and get involved, so hopefully wont see you at the Nats then.

Once again I will never go to drag racing cos it is sooooo BORING. What time did you get last time you ran your car anyway?

The so called gtgs are just hanging round sebs workshop with some nobbers anyway. I can do that at my own shop!

Organize something good and I`ll come wherever it is. Till then stop criticizing everyone elses efforts.

Years ago I was a member of Club VW , even before you were here in Aus . The people are nice but I dont beleive they will really change . I love drag racing and no matter how much I pushed it nothing really happened , so I just went on my own way , I got busier and never really had time to join a club . You organise events through an already established event that already caters for VW's , I really dont think its that hard . Try organising a drag day or dyno day then get back to me about your complaints about having a business etc

You may have worked for many multinationals but have you worked for any here in Aus ? I guess it really depends upon your position , management always work longer hours , workers rarely came in to work on Sat let alone a Sunday .

Just cause he wont join the club doesnt mean he wont turn up . I myself wont bother entering the S3 again . I guess its level of engineering is above and beyond what judges are use too . Massive power but the car looks stock . I guess I'll leave the car for the track then .

I really dont get you , you say drag days are so boring . Whats the nats then , you make it sound like an action packed day at the Jamberoo or something . Hang on a minute , youve never even turned up to a drag event so your just assuming its boring ????
Pierre ran a 14.9 I think at the last event .

Hanging around my workshop with some nobbers , geez , you certainly are something . Some of these nobbers who arent even mechanics know more about cars than you . Im sure they could teach you a thing or 2 . Why dont you have a gtg at your workshop ? I dont think you ever had an opening or anything ??

Ive organised a drag day , and your no turning up . Like what do you want , strippers ? A jumping Castle ? How about some helicopter flights ??? Like seriously Youve never turned up to any dyno days or drag days and yet your pushing everyone to come to the nationals . Fairs fair , come to all events and stop being so selective . Cars were built to be driven , I'm happy to go to VW events interstate if it means I get to race/dyno the car !

so you heard it first guys from Matt whose 'part' of the club.

if you do not want to join the club or be part of the club, do not come to the vw nationals according to him. (or am i wrong? ... not being rude but you clearly said this)

                  1. GTG's are all over the place, we go from national parks, to food places to peoples houses, to peoples workshops. Seb is kind enough to offer a BBQ/Food+Drinks to his customers and other fellow VAG lovers for no apparent reason other then to get people together. He doesn't care if they are a customer or not regardless. The same that Marc from Club Audi, Ian from Rennenhaus and Dragan from InMotive etc support events with stickers, foods/beverages and organising things out of courtesy. Im sure if you posted up a BBQ/GTG @ the workshop and invited all the forum members they would be happy to come.

                  2. You've turned this whole "nationals" meetings into a drama and showing how abnoxious you can be as we're simply all saying we have other commitments in life like yourself and we can't all make it which doesn't mean a) we're not interested, b) we dont appreciate it, or c) don't care about current happenings. So before you criticise people for not being able to make a meeting or event reconsider how many events/gtg/cruises you have attended to yourself. No one minds if you can't make it, you have your own life and other things happening to be able to or not interested altogether in some cases.

                  3. I ran a 14.9 on 16" steet tyres (thanks Yianni!) on k03 which was my last run as burnt out my clutch.. thankfully Seb had already ordered me a new clutch which was replaced a week or so later. Pretty pissed because was my first time at the drags in this car and the stock clutch didnt like it! So hopefully this year i can burn out another or get an LSD put in prior and try again!

Finally, if we weren't interested including myself i wouldn't express interest or encourage other people to come as a lot of people were discouraged from last years mixups but i am and we've got over it im sure... I go like everybody not to win but for the cars and the people/scene. Just like yourself.

ps. Adrian, want to go trade ours for STI's or something tomorrow? Could be an idea, bags the 21's ...

OK everyone, I think its time to calm down, take a walk to the local pool and just cool down a little.

When it comes to organising events, regardless of who, where and when, it's a thankless task and people will always have something to say about how it should have been better and not bothering to be part of the organising.

I'm not pointing fingers at anyone in particular for the Nationals or any other event, but it has always happened and I'm sure will always continue to happen, we all just need to make peace with that and make whatever event you are part of planning the best you can.

As always I strongly encourage all people from all states to become financial members of their local club as it's these clubs that organise our major events year in and year out, without them they just wouldn't happen. They also provide things like a lending library of books or specialist tools for various tasks, so there is always something that they can do for you.

This thread was for a meeting that has happened, the outcomes have been posted and will be taken to the next committee meeting. If anyone has anything further to add or request, email me at

Otherwise this thread will be locked as it has served it's purpose.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
