Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Geez, no MK4s?

I better bring along my GTI, count me in:

I like the sound of a nasho run, and Heathcote (or similar) suits me fine as a possible meeting place.

P.S Can't wait to see the 'rocco, Matt.

I've worked it out, I just used Google maps and the part I was getting confused with is when you come off the Mt Keira Road onto The Link Rd then take the ramp to the Southern Freeway and then the left turn, because according to the map you are actually turning onto Mount Ousley Rd at that time which after you have travelled along it for a little while then becomes the Southern Freeway.

So I would say after you have travelled along Mount Ousley Rd / The Southern Freeway for the 8 k's or so (and for those of you who are unfamiliar with the road it's usually crawling with cops, so watch your speed !) you would be taking the exit off to the left which will take you along past Wollongong High School on the left and about a half a km along on the right hand side of the Princes Hwy you have a Macca's, a Hungry Jacks and a Red Rooster and directly opposite is a new Holden Dealership. I might try to meet everyone somewhere in this area. Could someone confirm an ETA for me please. Sorry for any confusion caused !!

                Cheers
                Russ
Russ maybe it would be best if you give us your number and we'll call you from somewhere along the way when we know what time we'll be there?

Hey Mischa, it's all sorted mate. I sent Matt (Golf Loon) a PM last night and have arranged to meet you guys up on the top of Mount Ousley Rd near the overpass just before you turn left onto Mt Ousley Rd / The Southern Freeway and start the descent down to Wollongong. He's left me his mobile number so I'll give him a call once I get there and find out how far away the rest of you are. I might PM you my mobile # just in case of any unforeseen dramas. See you on the 11th.

                  Cheers
                  Russ

Does anyone happen to have a UHF CB radio or two? I have one which I will be bringing, anymore will be handy for coordinate a large group.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I sold mine years ago just after I dropped my flared trousers and platform shoes into the nearest St Vinnies bin !! The CB would still be handy to have though, sometimes

Yeah, I bought mine a couple of years ago just for cruises, put onto the idea by the brother in law. Also handy to have when working on (or in) the roof feeding cables or setting antennas

That looks very similar to the one I have although I paid a bit more for it
Reality is it's not used often, but is handy when it is.
