Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Also, I do fundraising BBQ's all the time, and unless food is donated, then you're not going to raise much $$$.

So, lets donate food and drink, and raise funds for VWWC or Movember! I've already got mine well underway! Dirty Sanchez!

although there might be a chance that they will be ok about it, and about open flames, ill bring the electric BBQ with a generator then....

geeeeez relax guys this isnt an us vs them situation. We are guests at VWCVs event. I only raised the point cos I was wary of causing conflict and you guys are all on about fighting the power? I was trying to be helpful. Not trying to pull the pin on the idea.

The problem in my mind does not lay in having a bbq. Youre allowed to bring a cut lunch so i dont see the difference there. The problem is youre planning on selling food (albeit for a good cause) and the vendors there on the day im sure pay a lot of money for that privilege.

So yeah. No need to get your panties in a bunch. Just a bit of forethought is all i was suggesting.
I appologise for being the unpopular minority in advance

I would suggest the only issue would be with "selling" the food, with health regs and the venders probably having a tender to sell food on the premises.

It could pay to check this out before hand.

Apart from that great idea. I won't be able to help out much. I'll be in and out on sunday unfortunately.

                      That's a good call.

I'm sure they can't argue with that.

I'm with you Tim. It pays to check this sort of thing out, in advance. Saves a potential confrontation on the day. If it's just a private BBQ, l couldn't imagine there would be a problem. Any sort of fund raising venture would not be well received by the event organizers, IMHO.

BTW, I have a portable gazebo, if that's of any interest.

guests?? aren't we participants at a "Volkswagen" event?? dont remember anywhere where it said it was an aircooled only event and watercooled people got a special invite (certainly didn't recieve mine in the mail) ...
organise your bbq and run it how you want. they cant stop you bringing your own food... and so what if 30 - 40 people bring their own snags?

Being pedantic doesnt really negate the validity of my point. And if you read my post you would understand my concern. Which thats all it is. My concern. Im sorry i mentioned it.

Every "participant" is there to enjoy the day. But every participant also has a responsibility to enjoy it according to the guidelines set out by VWCV.
They are the ones that go out on a limb here and organise the day.
They are the ones that have to organise public liability cover.
They are the ones that have to raise funds to pay for the day.

So can you see why I think they are the ones that deserve some respect?

not being pedantic or having a go.
i definitely understand your concern and dont think it is at all disrespectful towards the organisers if you bring your own food... have done it for a few years myself as the food on the day is generally crap.
dont be sorry that you mentioned it as it is an open forum...
