ACT WTB 5 speed gearbox to suit a MK3 2lrt EFI engine

Hi Waterpumpers,

I am putting the feelers out to find a gearbox to mate up to a MK3 2ltr EFI engine in my MK1 Golf (my current box is a 7G12082) - Just seeing what's out there and close to Canberra to keep delivery costs down.

Give Gareth at Northside European a call. Pete S says he might still have a MK2 close ratio box tucked away.

I know Nick at Bungendore has a few MK3 boxes but he wants $450 for one.

You could also try Camden GTI. I'm driving past Camden on Saturday to get my MK1 (if I can get a tow car sorted) and can pick up the gearbox on the way.

You know you've got till the end of Feb to get the Golf on the road.

The box in my Mk1 has failed, and is apparently the same as a Mk3 1.8L, or a Cordoba 1.8L...

What's with all these gearbox failures? Mine started making noises last month so I put a MK3 gbox in.

Might be a good time to invest in a gearbox rebuilding business............
