Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW 02a, 02j and 02r Pinion Shaft Braces

Out of stock for the moment. If there's more interest I'll get more made

Will have a few gearbox pinion shaft braces for sale. Basically secures the pinion shaft to the bellhousing so it's less likely to flex under load, it's a must for high HP cars. This will work on mk3 vr6, mk4 Gti and polo 9n Gti. Will also work on all other 02a, 02j and 02r gearboxes.

These will be ready in the next week or so. I have a certain amount being made so first in gets them

Will be $100 each or very close, plus postage. First in first served, unless an arangment has been made for a later payment.

    Actual item pictured

Where does it become an issue on these boxes?
I thought they were good well past 300 ft.lbs.

It's a must for high HP cars, but it's also a good idea for tuned or stock cars. Strengthens the weakest point in the bellhousing and could save you a big gearbox repair bill in the future

Yep it will. I just fitted one of Schalke04's braces to my 02R (which uses the 02J bellhousing) in the polo 9n3 gti. You will have to file some parts of the brace and bellhousing to get it to fit dead flush. I just did it with hand tools and its no biggy. That's also totally normal too - the castings on the bellhousings all have variations in them so you have to account for that.
