Footprint (where the nuts & bolts go) and facing dimensions are the same, just the thickness & internal design is different.

Ask either Mysticality or Mountainbikemike. One of those guys did an IC upgrade (not Golf R/S3 IC) to their 125TDI. It wasn't a diesel specific unit AFAIK.

You might have to faff slightly with the inlet/outlet hoses but all these Golf based vehicles fit together like Lego.
