I'd also like to see the unit in place in daylight to see how well it's looks (ie how flush it is etc) as well as all the other features
Sounds pretty reasonable given the overall dodginess of the last efforts.

              • I agree with longshanks. I've already got one dodgy chinese unit that was under-designed and over-hyped. I'd rather wait that little bit longer and have one that's the other way around. If Audiosources really is trying to create a good name for themselves, then that's the only way to do it, otherwise they'll be put in the dodgy basket too, which we're told they're trying to distinguish themselves from. However, I do suspect that there's a project manager missing from this project. So much seems to have been promised and withdrawn along the way. The "just get it out" attitude isn't going to create a good name or product IMHO. Maybe it's just my age showing, but I've bought too many products that were released before they should have been.

                  I agree with your sentiment.

I think there's a middle ground somewhere, where we get a well developed product but in a timely manner. I'm not entirely keen on getting an 'incomplete' unit with the promise of software updates in the future. At this point, the things missing from the shipping release will be 1) MHL support, 2) USB/SD Library support, 3) Add-in support (so trip/OBD etc)?

At least it sounds like the hardware design has been finalised, so that's something?

Agreed with the project manager comment, hard to tell on the outside though, but the Chinese do tend to work a bit different compared to our management philosophy, so yea.

                  • It isn't your age showing. Getting beta products is no fun.

I have no issues with waiting for a good quality products.

I believe why DKN hasn't just said **** it, and shipped it, is that he doesn't want this to get the negativity that was associated with the ANS model. While everyone says they are OK with bugs, ANY negatives on a product EVEN if you say it isn't a final release software gets centered on and the pros of the product get ignored.

How many cell phones had security or UI problems and regardless of a fix in the works got slammed and terrible reviews.

DKN is safeguarding his business. As a business owner I 100% commiserate and side with him in regards to not rushing it. While he is a middle man for audio sources he is still running a business. He has been transparent and quick in updates and feedback.

I'd rather have a solid unit. I'm not keen on the idea of multiple updates due to impatience. This is the only time that you hold any sort of leverage on your purchase.

                      • i just wish instead of audio source saying it will be ready in a few days..then a few days pass and they again say in a few days..this has been said since aug 1,from when i joined the group buy...I would rather them tell the truth and say it will be ready dec 1...

As you've highlighted, my take on this is Audiosources is fantastic at announcing features, but has yet to prove it can deliver a finished, polished, product. What have we seen so far to change our mind on that?

                            The onus is on them.

                            • It seems fairly well divided between release vs wait. Personally I'd rather wait until Sandy is satisfied than get a half baked unit full of bugs (some are to be expected) and I know I'm not alone. Sandy will probably get cranky customers either way so I feel for his predicament.
