  • Excuse me guys

But wake up to yourselves. The retail price is $800 so because of the group buy you now have the privilege of purchasing the new DNS head units at $700. This is a discount of $100 already and on top of that he is covering the postage too. If saving a few extra dollars is so important to you then buy an ANS head unit.

I am all for the raffle. Think about it, 1 in 15 odds of getting $700 back sounds pretty awesome to me. A $20 or so discount is really just lunch money for a day for most people.

    • Re the discount discussion...you do realise that the price we're paying is already $100 below the normal price AND it includes shipping? What more do you want? Sandy isn't doing this for kicks, it is his business. I think going into a draw for a chance to get your money back is a good deal.

Edit: LOL mmmracer just beat me to the punch!

Any thoughts on the suggestion for the video?

Also the accessory list posted on the first page seems imcomplete...?

Was there not also a DAB and OBD II module available?

I am on the same wave length, saving an extra $20-$30 is cool but I figure a gamble on saving $700 is worth it. I will waste what I save on something stupid anyways

          • Lol no need to get heated, there just turned out to be more people supporting a split approach than I thought so it's purely a matter of vote now. Let's just agree to disagree and put your money where the poll is (top of the thread, by the way )

I already have a demo of the ANS video up, and it's a bit difficult to compare side by side especially since I intend to show MFD functions too (meaning it won't just be a bench demo but be installed in my car). The speed of the DNS unit will be pretty self-evident once you see it in action.

DAB+ and OBD2 are not available on first release. OBD2 is expected to be available the earliest since they already have working samples for the ANS series (was not released because it slowed down that unit too much, won't be a problem for the DNS once they tune it to the new hardware). They also have a trip recorder in development, that will also come later down the track.

            • To be quite honest, I'm also not fussed which way it goes either raffling off free units or everyone gets a discount. As I've already paid for my unit in full including accessories. I would want to know if it be easier to refund the difference if everyone ends up getting the discount or would it be preferable to purchase more accessories like RVC for minus the discount.

              • lol its not a matter of extracting as much discount as possible out of Sandy, its whether the buyers want the 'bonus' to be distributed evenly amongst each other with certainty, or whether its allocated to a few lucky individuals by each of us taking a gamble. Everyone has their own risk tolerance and preference so the poll will let the consensus decide. Either way, I'm glad the unit will be available shortly - fingers crossed!

                • My vote is based on what the deal was when I put forward my EOI and paid my deposit.
I believe every one is getting a bargain at $700 ($720 for me as I paid with PayPal, not that I have a problem with that, it was stipulated and I didn't have a problem with it) and for the lucky few who get a free unit, BONUS!

PS: Sandy, if I a win in the raffle I want my full payment of $720 back, you can cop the $20 Paypal charge, Ok!
                  I think it's only fair.

I think if he hits the refund button in PayPal it will actually refund everything including their cut of the transaction, think it did for something I refunded a while back

That part was tongue in check.
                      I couldn't give a rats about $20 if I won the raffle!
The bloke is already doing us a solid buy discounting them to begin with.

                      • I appreciate everyone's support and good spirits despite the delay

dvestate is correct though, PayPal is at least fair about that - if you refund someone money they will also refund the fee. So, I refund you $720, the ~$20 fee they charge me gets refunded to me, and everybody's a happy chap.

                        • Now this has me worried:

                          Need some positive feedback now.

                          • I'm not entirely sure which way I swing on the whole discount vs free units debate, still gotta have a think about it. What is easiest to deal with from Sandys POV/gets me a unit quicker? :p

Why? What has got you worried?

The one he's talking about in that thread is a generic chinese unit. They're everywhere, they all use the same hardware, they all have the same (****ty) chinese OS, and they're all cheap and rubbishy (the only thing they change is the connection for the various systems and the housing to fit the car).

Completely different to the ANS/DNS units, which has better hardware and software, and has been designed by someone who actually knows what they're doing.

                            • Just to add to the above, Audiosources sold exactly those types of generic units, about 5 years ago. They have gained tremendous experience and knowledge since then, and have been steadily working to distance themselves from that market. They're not looking for a quick easy buck, they're seeking to establish their own brand. In the long term they hope to become a brand you can find in your local stores just like Pioneer, Kenwood etc.

As to the speed of delivery, it won't be affected by the discount option - I only ship a unit that is paid, but whether you get the full unit price refunded or a portion, the refund can be done later. Although, it is more effort for me to refund everyone $40, especially those who paid by bank transfer
