And excuse the french, but *fscking sigh*. I've got some BAD (but not going-to-cost-you-money) news.
PayPal have decided that all the recent activity (you guys paying me, essentially) in my PayPal account was suspicious, and have permanently suspended my PayPal account.
What this means is the following:
* If you paid via PayPal, you will receive a PayPal refund for the money you transferred. You may actually make a few cents out of this.
* If you paid via direct deposit, I had transferred your money into my PayPal account and converted it to USD. PayPal are going to transfer the money back into my bank account, and we then I will transfer your money back to you.
Right now, I'm EXTREMELY peeved at PayPal for the way they've handled this.
I will be sending everyone an email to further clarify, and give options on what we do from here.
Guys, I'm really sorry that things that gone this way.
*sigh*

you're kidding me...
damn paypal, i suppose they assumed you were a business asking it's customers to make the payments as personal payments...
Do they expect to make the 2% or whatever twice on this transaction??? don't they realise they would have made that commission when you sent the money to ECS???
dollar was at 82 cents when i converted, so it's actually risen to 84 cents, i'll actually lose a little bit...
the dollar droped and i lost out, now the dollar rises and i still lose... i can't win here!
i swear this is just one big joke!
Thats no good. No stress Rob, something you couldnt have forseen. As long as you can get your paypal account back and no one misses out on there money.
McDub i acutally lol'd when i read your post. Your not having a good run! hope it looks up for you.
not for me. I was saving about $120US on parts alone. Shipping to my door for a turbo and FPR is only about $90US anyway so it was only going to be about $30 cheaper anyway. The most annoying thing is I could have bought these back when the dollar was 93C for the same price in the end. But oh well... Paypal=Massive PITFA

Check your paypal account for the refund, given Paypal was so anxious to close Rob's account, they may actually not exchange back to AUD, so you might find USD balance, therefore, sit on it for a few weeks and hopefully the Aussie dollar will drop a little for you.
And without sounding brash, this "big joke" - PAYPAL - has technically wasted on average 2hrs per night for both Rob and myself for the last few weeks !
To everyone in this GB, we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding through this. We'll be in touch!

haha, no probs, it's actually all good because they effectively refunded us back in australian dollars using the rate at the time we paid, not the current rate, so we get back exactly what gave away, so all good.
So what can we do then? we can still do the aussie dollars into your bank account thing can't we, it still works out the same, just more stuffing around i guess...

they did convert it back the orininal value of australian dollars so we are all even, so to speak, but obviously not for all the time this has wasted for you guys
what was paypals reason, other than it just seeming 'suspicious'?
Is that all they said?
edit: actually paypal shortchanged me 2 whole cents!
Yes, seems like a lot of investigating went on doesn't it! I will loose out because when I transfered the dollar was still 88C, so now when I go to do it again it will be 84C or whatever! Will sit on it for a day and see what transpires from all this.

Here's what PayPal sent me.
Hello Robert Hudson,
For the safety and security of the PayPal network, we often review accounts
for potential risks. After reviewing your account, we have decided to
close it because of security issues.
We are making every effort to minimise any disruption to your business.
If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no unresolved buyer
complaints or chargebacks, your account will remain limited.
Option 1. If you owe refunds to any of your buyers, you can use the money
in your PayPal account to refund them.
To refund your buyers:
1. Log in to your PayPal account
2. Click "Contact Us" at the bottom of any page.
3. Click "Contact Customer Service."
4. Under "Choose a Topic," select "Sending/Receiving Money."
5. Under "Choose a Subtopic," select "Refund/Cancel a Payment."
6. Click "Continue" and follow the instructions to refund payments.
Option 2. Money in your PayPal account will be held for 180 days. After 180
days, we'll email you information on how to receive your funds.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause.
Thanks,
PayPal
Because some money wasn't paid directly into PayPal but rather into my bank account (and I then transferred into PayPal and converted to USD), there was potential for some people to be without their money for up to six months. I called PayPal in the US (don't bother with calling them here, there is no here, you end up on a ****ty phone line to a foreign call centre where nobody can help you) and arranged to have the money transferred back into my account so I can refund those who paid that way rather than them holding it for six months for no good reason.
As part of that, they've refunded all the PayPal payments as well rather than me doing it the way they suggest in that email. This has meant that the emails that have gone out with the refunds claim that they are as a result of a customer complaint, which peeves me off even more, and I will be raising this as a defamation issue with them.
I can't begin to explain how peeved I am about this whole situation as caused by PayPal, or sorry I am that it's inconvenienced all you guys...
