  • SA Wtb: mk6/7 golf gti manual

    Hi all,

I’m looking to get back into a gti - used to have a 2 door polo and it was so much more fun than my current commodore boat of a wagon

    Mk6 or 7
    - manual
    - <120k
    - timing tensioner done
    - lighter coloured (no black or red)
    - prefer stock or maybe stage1
    - in adelaide

    8-12k budget depending on condition/year/etc

I keep missing out on the well priced ones that pop up

One of the 35 edition ones would be amazing but I don’t think there’s many in manual around. I’d have traveled for this one if it wasn’t red https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...00904723662483

me if you know of one for sale

Here is me thinking no way you will get a clean low km's Mk6 GTI for $10-12k, but turns out that is about all they are worth these days.

Note the 35th Editions are mainly red or charcoal - majority red. Also they have the engine from the Golf R so no timing chain/tensioner issues. As you mentioned, very few manual 35th Editions came to Australia - so they are very rare. Definitely worth the trip to get a decent 35th Edition, even if its in another state.

If sticking with a regular GTI, try to get a 2012+ model which had the updated timing chain tensioner. I would also strongly recommend finding a GTI with the optional bixenon headlights, as not only do they made the car visually look much niceer, but the light output is much better than the ugly base headlights.

I used to have a manual Mk6 GTI which was an early 2010 model, and had issues with the timing chain/tensioner.

If you want something a little different, there was also an Adidas edition GTI which had Adidas badges on the door pillars and Adidas themed seat material. They also had different rims, as well as the Golf R LED tail lights and the xenon headlights.
    2015 Audi SQ5 - SOLD

    New car incoming...

thanks for the suggestions - Yeah the r engine in the 35ed made it more interesting - there was a white auto 35ed up at the same time so I didn’t realise it was such a rarity or I would have tried to make the trip for the red one

theres plenty of gtis up for more but they aren’t selling.. if your car doesn’t sell in 2-3 days it means it’s overpriced unless it’s got specialised mods which reduce the buyer pool. The actual sold prices for ok ones I know of have been in the 9-10-11k range the last year
