Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW Super awesome Bora 4Motion Sport

It's breaking my heart to write this.

My 2002 Bora 4Motion Sport is for sale.

no rego left, best offer has it! Tyres and Bilstein B8's are worth that much alone!

I've had this car for 7 years and added ~60,000k's in that time. I've cherished every moment and I decided to treat myself to
a new car more suitable for commuting as my drives seem to be getting longer each day.
    • ~250,000k's
    • Genuine 'Sport' model with 17's and branded headrests, floor mats and oetinger grille. I have the wing too but it snapped in half. Probably fixable if you're handy with fibreglass.
    • Eibach lower springs with awesome Bilstein B8 shortened shocks.
    • HID headlights with Vikom relay (SO much better than factory lights) - I have 2 other sets of lights
    • Full front end refresh kit minus wishbones.
    • Full cooling system refresh with billet crackpipe, temp sensor, thermostat, thermostat housing, gaskets etc.
    • Fan resistor mod
    • K&N panel filter
    • Fairly new continental tyres all round
    • fog lights and DRL. (The HID headlights have no parkers - I added the DRL to act as parkers)
    • All electrics work
    • Oil and filter changed regularly (Usually with Penrite Euro)
    • Fumoto valve (Greatest invention ever!)
    • Diesel Geek short shifter
    • Replaced all woodgrain with brand new genuine VW trim (Except the gear knob and the two vertical pieces next to the radio
    • New (used) A/C compressor and gas refill (last December) - A/C is perfect
    • New serpentine belt ~25,000 ago
    • DIY stitch-on steering wheel cover (Doesn’t look perfect but much nicer to drive)
    • All 4 ABS wheel sensors have been replaced along with lateral sensor. ABS is perfect. All genuine sensors
    • Rear disks and pads done ~2000k’s ago
    • Front slotted disks and pads done ~20,000k’s ago
    • Alpine headhunt with Bluetooth (calls)
    • Rear brake lines are braided. I have the matching ones for the front.
    • Both front door window regulators have been replaced with aluminium ones.
    • I have a car bra for it though the little hooks are rusted, won’t take much to fix.

    Considerations
    • A few years ago it overheated. Turns out there was a smorgasbord of issues that I wasn’t aware of. The thermostat had gone and the temp sensor was faulty. So, I didn’t know the car was getting hot. It also blew the oil cooler. You can read more about this in my build thread but the end result was the cooling system refresh (listed above) with new (used) radiator, overflow tank, oil cooler and many flushes. Besides the hoses and the water pump, the whole system is new. I have not had a single problem with this since I fixed it. The problem below has allowed me to test the temp gauge regularly.
    • The fans have had the resistor mod done but they only turn on when the A/C is on. Turn the A/C off and the fans turn off (I’ve used to test temp gauge). I think this is a fan controller issue but I have not tested.
    • The drivers seat has lost some support and can’t be lowered.
    • Only 3 weeks ago it was reversed into by some inconsiderate **** who left no note. Small dent on drivers’ door I’ll pull out with my dent puller but there will be some marks left over.
    • Body isn’t great. Few scuffs from previous owner as well as marks from roof racks and wing. Front bonnet has a lot of small stone chips.
    • Strut top plate, mount and bearing replaced on drivers side front strut a few months ago but passenger needs to be done as its a bit creaky. I think I have the parts for it.

I’m sure there’s more. I’ll update if I remember anything.

This is such a great car, it continues to drive perfectly and be one of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I’m genuinely sad to be selling it and while I did consider parting it out, I don’t think it deserves that especially as it still drives so well.

It has rego till June 28 2018.

Build/Maintenance thread here. Operation Bora Body

I know and I'd love to get your car but realistically I've got too many expenses for the next couple of months.

Bump. I was going to keep this and make it a bit of a project car but I'm just not going to have the time. It's been sitting for a while but still starts immediately. Had no registration but I'm happy to get it a blue slip for new owner. Make me an offer.
