I'm carrying a 6mm aluminium plate to put under the jack when (if) needed off road. I'm in the process of putting some pieces on the plate to minimise the chance of the jack sliding sideways or backwards.
Through the base of the jack, centrally but toward one end, there is a black nylon protrusion...

So spent the better part of the day rotating wheels, installing front & rear mudflaps on the Golf. But the main reason for the work was installing the alternate front & rear jack point mounts. Now it will be easier to lift the car to use jack stands. Or you can use this method to get a golf...

In the past with other, lighter vehicles, I've used a 2' 2x4 on my hydraulic floor jack to raise one side by jacking at the middle of the sill and then placed jack stands at appropriate hard points, not on the sill. I'd do the other side the same way -- slowly, to let the hydraulic jack roll back. Doing...

I'll be doing an oil change (first time) on the R36 and was having a look at where to safely place my car stands (I have the pin type) so the book shows 4 jacking points, which is fine. Obviously for the front jack points I can't place the stand under those which would be used by the jack to begin with....

Pretty boring first post from a newbie who has just purchased a virtually new (sub 15k kms) Polo GTI in MY13.5 guise.

Just having a look around the car there is a polystyrene surround for the spare wheel well that has some slots in it that are unoccupied in my car......

in my effort to figure how to use axle/jack stands - i discovered additional points, not covered in the manual, or anywhere else on the web.

since the jack and stand can't fit side by side, i had to find alternate positions.

happy to b corrected if these are NOT jack points....

Car fell off Jack and bent the screw. Is proving hard to straighten and Im not sure I would trust it afterwards
