    G'day from WA

    Hello all!

Great to be part of the forum. I have a 2013 VW Jetta 118TSI (CTHD) w/ a manual transmission with a bit of a twist in terms of modifications. It is lifted with a Forge Motorsport 40mm lift kit top of 205/60/16s - total 2" lift! Some other roadtrip/camper mods...

118 TSI 2009 CAVD to CTHD - a couple questions

    Hi all,

I imagine you get sick of hearing about this dreaded model hanging around VW forums. Sadly my (probably stupid in hindsight) decision ended up biting me, but I was a young student so have to forgive my idiocy a little. Got a good 4.5 years out of it so can't complain too much, unfortunately...

  • CTHD Engine Replacement - Did I just get screwed?

I recently purchased a used 2013 Tiguan 118TSI 1.4L CTHD. Bad idea... Piston failure... I wish I had noticed when I first inspected the vehicle.

I was recommended a wrecker by my mechanic - he sold me a replacement engine (supposedly a 2016 CTHD engine with 42k on the clock)... He recommended...

  • Beetle CTHD (118TSI twincharge) engine failure

Hi All just wanted to know if any other beetle owners have experienced loss of compression in their late model beetle engines and required their pistons to be replaced.

I understand that the CAV series of engines in the golfs and Jetta's were prone to piston failures but i was unaware that...

  • 118 TSI CTHD difference to 118 TSI CAVD engine

Does any one no the differences between the CAVD and CTHD 118 TSI engine? My understanding is the CAVD was used in the troubled MK6 Golfs and the improved CTHD 118 TS came out in early 2012 and are currently in use in the Jetta, Tiguan and Beetle. I have a Beetle with the CTHD and love the throttle...

  • 118TSi - CAVD to CTHD conversion, wiring harness Q? HELP!

    Hi Guys,

Long story short - Dead 2009 118TSi manual with a CAVD engine. Looking at replacing it with a 2012 CTHD with 9,000km.

The above depends on what else I need. So I've been told I need to replace the ECU. To replace the ECU I also need to replace the cluster, lock barrels...
