I am after information regarding swapping out a blown CAVD to a CTHD engine will the CTHD bolt up to my 7 speed Auto?
my intention is to swap all bolt ons to the later engine if possible, would this allow me to use existing ECU etc
has this been done previously...

My understanding is the CAVD was used in the troubled MK6 Golfs and the improved CTHD 118 TS came out in early 2012 and are currently in use in the Jetta, Tiguan and Beetle. Long story short - Dead 2009 118TSi manual with a CAVD engine. Looking at replacing it with a 2012 CTHD with 9,000km.

The above depends on what else I need. So I've been told I need to replace the ECU. To replace the ECU I also need to replace the cluster, lock barrels...
