4th time lucky...
I meant the DQ200 is the 'cheaper' version of the DSG (compared to the 'more expensive' (to produce and for customers to service) wet clutch models).

You're lucky and have a DQ250 6-Speed Wet Clutch. It's a shame that the DQ200 is used in all the 77TSI Polo's & Golf's, 90TSI, 132kW Polo GTI, newer Golf 118TSI's, etc...Last edited by Barracuda; 09-10-2013, 07:27 AM.MY16 Golf GTI Performance Pack

No mine is the DQ200 as well. Absolutely horrid in start/stop traffic, especially on warm/hot days. Bad enough to make me drive the long way home (adds 30mins) to avoid the start/stop.

Hmm. Interesting read Gavs!
I hope they don't drop the DSG. I love the box, IMO I think it sh*ts all over the tourqe converter gearbox in every way: efficiency, shift times, take off - except the lag that the 7sp have and most of all FEEL...BUT they need to fix the problems. When my DSG is working correctly (very rare these days) it's quick direct and really makes good use of the engine. When it's not though it's a dog.
Personally I would say drop the 7sp dry clutch and replace it with the 6sp wet clutch. I will say the 7sp is uncomfortable in bumper to bumper traffic becuase of how harsh the dry clutches engage. The wet clutch golf diesel on the other hand was a gem!

I've had my DQ200 Polo GTI for a few months so far and it's always seemed pretty smooth and good even in heavy traffic. I am concious about how it works though and if I know I'll be in slow crawling traffic I shift into manual so I can hold it in 1st and 2nd much longer to avoid excessive clutch slip.MY13.5 Polo GTI - Flash red

If you need to floor the DSG in order to have it running smooth, then the transmission is not performing the task being asked of it. I've learnt to manage my DSG a lot better over the past few months, though having said that, I really wish it weren't so jittery at low speed. Unfortunately a majority of suburban driving is going to be done at low speed - heading to the gym, driving around to the shops, crawling into work - and if a transmission isn't going to perform well in those conditions, it shouldn't be considered for vehicles that will spend a majority of their life being applied for shorter trips.MY19 Polo GTI DSG | Pure White | Driver Assistance Package | Infotainment Package | Luxury Package

Bad experiences leave a sour taste in the mouth but certainly statistics should show if the DQ200 really is as bad as some say it is. Other than that it's pretty much your word versus another person's word as to if the DQ200 is really up to standard.
