Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VIDEO: VW Golf Wild Boar test

The first test is about a car without ESP/ESC, point being that it slides with it's side into oncoming traffic (it's weakest point of protection)

The second shows a car with ESP/ESC, point being that you don't lose control but still crash with oncoming traffic. Note how the Mk4's ESP works, those early systems don't inspire too much confidence.

The third and last test shows what you should do, they tell you that you should not try to avoid the boars, because even though the car is probably totaled afterwards, it's safer for you and oncoming traffic.

Looked to me like even after hitting the boar the car swerved into oncoming traffic. Best solution is to slow down in boar zones.
