  • Why are threads being deleted ?

Slowly and painfully really old posts are being deleted without anyone making a fuss.

    My question is why ?

I think certain threads are probably being archived, perhaps to clean up the server and make space?

I know a forum I used to mod, people lost post numbers when I archived some of the older threads for server maintenance. Not sure specifically whats going on here though as I haven't modded under vBulletin before.

Yes it's for server space and maintenance requirements.
As far as I know it's only old threads in the general, humour and for sale sections .

All the threads in the technical sections are maintained in order to preserve our knowledge base (once again as far as I'm aware).

At the end of the day it's not about the number or posts you have, it's about the quality of the posts.

        Cheers,

I'm not complaining about post counting.

I want to know where old posts are as I for an example could not access any jokes posted by Dave which I went to look for after I found out the bad news just to remember his classy humour

I'm sure other stuff I haven't looked for that I posted is no longer available.

Looks to be some rearranging of the forums going on as well!
              Nothing to see here...

There is always general maintenance activities going on, although only in the non technical sections, like General chat, humour and For Sales etc etc. The technical posts stay forever.

Yep, a couple of small tweaks to better present some of the sections is happening, some sections may be merged and other new sections might just be cropping up.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
