Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Automatic photo resizing

Can someone please look into an automatic photo resizer for the Vbulletin forum, I just went to attach a heap of photo's from the Leipzig Auto show (all the new Golf 6 stuff). And the photos were like 3 % too big so were all rejected.

On Ozaudi & Ozvolks, they are automatically resized for you (its an ad on to the forum software) - let me know if you need more info on it - its driving me nuts!

the problem with this forum is the image size limits are so piddly so theres no point directly uploading them to the forum if you want decent quality images. you're better off hosting them off a photo sharing site like www.photobucket.com or www.flickr.com and then using their image link to paste into the thread your typing. they also offer an automatic resizer but if the images are really large then it will take a lot longer to upload. i use this program for resizing large batches of photos i take for jobs http://download.cnet.com/FastStone-P...html?tag=mncol

If you upload them to Photobucket it will resize them for you (800x600)

        True,

I just looked into it, its part of our gallery package - you get to choose all the parameters - it costs us a massive $30 a year - easy to use, upload directly from anywhere - no having to host them elsewhere.

Sorry Guy, I'm pretty sure this is how our forum runs

              Guy

              try this prog, freeway

drag and drop and it'll resize

i use imageshack with imageshack toolbar on firefox to do multi uploads (easier)

              What’s behind you doesn’t matter..

                Get Flock
Flock, the best team communication app and online collaboration platform, comes with team messaging, project management and other great features that improve productivity and boost speed of execution.

It will resize your photo's BEFORE it sends them to save how much you need to upload (most of which is wasted when photobucket resizes your photo's automatically).

Works with Photobucket, flickr, facebook and lots of others. Well worth checking out.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Agreed, I have plenty of photo resizing tools, it would just save so much time not having to do it, just upload to the forum & you are done!

Anyway - its no big deal.
