Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • MKVI Section?

Howdy Mods, when can we have a MKVI section in the Group Room to play in? I swear I'm going to be the first to place an order for a MKVI GTI, and I'm gonna need somewhere to discuss!

they cant build mk5s forever. VW are just taking off again in Australia. I doubt they would abandon us now.

Thats true, some cars also just won't be profitable to sell here, like the Phaeton and most likely the Scirocco.

This is just my opinion; every car section we have is for existing cars. The MkVI isn't out yet, so shouldn't we wait for it to come out, THEN make a section for it so people can discuss the real thing instead of speculations etc?

I've been told (by a normally reliable source) that once VW has sold out the MK5 GTI (remember production has ceased), they will selling the Scirrocco untill the Mk6 GTI becomes available in 12-18months. Apparently they are in Oz already standing in the storage yards awaiting release to the market.

Audi has the same deal currently with the S3, selling limited edition 3 doors before the facelifted new 3 and 5 doors hit the market.

So where does the speculation get posted until then?

The Mk6 will be coming to Australia, so why not have a section for it now?

I know your post is a month or so old, but 5 door S3 Sportwagons are now available. My understanding is facelifted 3 door S3s won't be available in Australia until early 2009.

Pics of both can be seen on AUSmotive.

                              BUMP...

C'mon guys... how long does it take to get a MKVI section up and running?!?!? My local dealer rang me yesterday to let me know that it won't be too far away now to place a factory order for a new GTI. As I said, I'll be the first!
