Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Must be some sort of vandalism/joke, no one in their right mind would ruin a car like that.

Hell I wouldn't be laughing if someone ripped off the Audi badges from my engine (which everyone could see)... lol.

Why would anybody do that to such a perfect car? Only thing I can think of is that maybe they're rebadged as BMW's in.... Russia is it?

When the badge swap is this obvious it can't be factory. That's just ridiculous!

I reckon its someone's idea of a joke...or else the owner is a complete douche!!

+1 for the dealer that managed to actually pass this off to the customer!!

One theory on the other forum is that it's someone trying to get out of parking tickets. So when they write it up it reads BMW and they get off on a technicality.

Personally i think they should be hung!

                      haha yes!

I dont know about over seas, but i find people joke that they should upgrade to a bmw? not just because i drive 1, but i would prefer a audi/vw to a bmw anyday. maybe this is what the owner was thinking? but then why didnt he go get a M3/M5?

                      Idiot either way...

i think its just someone with enough money to have a laugh.... poking a bit of fun at the stereotypical R8 pilots he shares steed with
when you can afford an R8, there is a good chance you can afford to rip the silverware off and re-kit with a shiny set of beamer badges im sure, if thats your style...
even if it is just a windup, to see who will bite
i mean, it managed to get posted up in here didnt it.... that pic could be from anywhere in the world, and who knows how long its been getting showcased about

its got my vote for humour anyways

The owner of the R8 obviously wanted to trade it in on something else and discovered the absolutely shockingly high depreciation that Audi's suffer and wanted to find a way to get a bit more for it on a trade ...... thus the BMW badges .....

Seriously though, why does Audi's have such terrible trade ins? A dealer principal friend (Mazda) reckons its less than 50% on trades after 3 years !!!!!!!
