Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Buying from UK or Europe - who from?

I'm planning on buying some items for my Mk5 2.0TDi DSG Golf. Had it since new, now over 150,000kms on it. Has GTI Denvers rolling 235/45 R17 Michelins.

I've heard of demontweeks, but can anyone suggest sellers in UK or Europe to buy from?

It would be nice to raise the Golf (legally) because of the plague of SUV & Giant Utes on the roads, but I do like the height & damping of it, (lower & firmer than FSI/TSI towards GTi) but not any more. So guessing not only new shocks but new springs (because of mileage)

I don't want to lower the height the usual 50mm and that limits spring choice. Anyway, this post is asking for places to buy from UK/GB versus Europe.

    Thanks.

Orange Tuning in Germany have a heap of parts for Mk5 and Mk6 Golfs and are well priced.

Thanks. I might be able to save more from UK/GB because of the pound slipping. I think euro may have held more value regarding exchanges of either to AUD.

Not sure if you will save all that much if buying both shocks and springs due to the physical size and weight of the items....shipping will be expensive. ECS Tuning in the USA will be another to look at - huge range.

I was going to buy shocks from ECS Tuning but ended up buying them locally for only about $100 more.

I checked out Orange, but all their springs are lowered. The lowest i'd want is original GT TDI spec.
