  • 42DD Shifter end links

Looking for any recommendations where to get these fit to my mk6 GTI. I'm north side Brisbane so sunny coast or Brisbane would be ok.
Just wanting to reduce some sloppiness. I've just fit the S3 short shifter myself but don't feel confident doing these and would like the job done right and by somebody who has done these before.

    Cheers

its really not that hard mate, if you have the parts i can help you install if you can wait until the end of next month; i'm currently away...

in the mean time have a read of my s3 thread where there are some photos of my install which may help you if you feel like giving it a crack yourself...

Hey folks, fitting these bushings tomorrow and was looking for some tips and do's and don'ts if possible. Most nervous about taking the end links off the cables and not putting them back in the right place, should I mark the cable with a bit of white paint or something to make sure it goes back to the right length?

          42DD Shifter end links

No need to remove the end links - just use a craft knife/flat blade screwdriver to cut the rubber off the stock bushes and remove them from the plastic end links. The rubber is moulded/glued into the end links so you rip it a bit with a knife and then pull it out. Then the new 42DD bushes go in their place.

Pic of the 42DD bushes fitted to my Mk6 GTI for reference below:

I suppose I could do it that way but I still need to take off the black plastic side to side bracket to drill the holes so the bolts will go through. Thanks.

Took me 2 hours, should have been 1 hour except the thick copper washer wouldn't go on. Also the side to side is a little stiff, I need to loses that pivot off slightly. I also need a longer bolt for the end link as I can't get a washer on and the nut doesn't go on far enough to hold. But very impressed so far just needs a few minor adjustments. I also left it all in place to do so no marking. Thanks

Just realised seeing your white clip in place, why didn't I leave that there too instead of cutting then over tightening. What an idiot I am, I just followed the you tube diy.
