Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hello (again)

I'm located near Artarmon in Sydney.

Looking for someone local to do a custom intercooler install.

Trying to work the balance of performance vs quality...

Thanks mate, i'm fishing for options to get it done cheaper.

May go with the Forge in the end as it looks like a good kit, really just the freight that makes it expensive...

Have you spoken to GTI Dave about costs?
I have only heard good things about him regarding forge bits he has imported for others.

Actually a quality fabricator will do as good as job as Forge .... and cost about $500 less.

Last I looked Forge FMIC complete kit $1600 landed (before fitted). Locally manufactured piping & fitting = $650 + $350 imported FMIC = $1000 all up.

Big savings to be had if you look around a bit.

            Thats it mate...

I'm not paying over $1k for it, full stop.

If I don't get 100% benefit compared to the Forge, well I didn't pay 100% of the cost either.

My car unfortunately has been and will always be modded on a budget. If I had all the money in the world, would not have started with this car...

I've dealt with Dave, he's good, but the units are over a grand at list, even with a good discount, its never going to get here and installed for close to custom work on a reasonable unit.

              hey mate,

my mate does but it, but it would bne a private job i would have to ask him, whats the details

ps your expenses may come to a k depending on what you get done, don't forget you need to pay for alloy, gas for tig, rods for tig, labour,

if you can work the pipin out and cut it all to size it will save you a **** load
